The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Your Impact:
Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Test Development Engineer to join the Test Solutions team. We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineer, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF, Digital and analogue based) Test Solutions. Our Systems Engineers work in multidisciplinary teams spanning a range of activities pulling together the necessary engineering and technology strands into a high-performance system, bridging the gap between the theoretically possible and the practically implementable.
What you will do:
- The scope of work can range from design and technical problem solving to test solution development
- Support the requirements capture for Test Equipment Requirement Specifications (TERS)
- Control of Parts and Documentation including change management
- Ensure effective implementation of the company's Life-cycle design reviews
- Be part of a team that develops the hardware/software test solution including the requirements specification through to testing
- Software development using LabVIEW & Test Stand
- Support the management of Suppliers and project Make/Buy decisions as required
- Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies e.g. with test solutions or obsolescence
What you’ll bring
- Good understanding of a range of electronic technologies and a good understand of one of the Hardware/Systems/Software engineering lifecycles
- Experience of working with external supplies
- Degree qualified (or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrate team working skills
It would be nice if you had:
- Good understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM
- Test equipment exposure including operating/maintaining equipment
- Experience of working in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems
- DOORS or equivalent requirements capture tool
- LabVIEW and TestStand Experience, or equivalent software test automation tools
Travel within the UK and Europe may be required for this role.
