Job purpose

The Testing Analyst helps ensure the quality and reliability of Halaxy's platform by testing new features, enhancements, and fixes against defined acceptance criteria.

The role carries out manual and automated testing across the full stack, validates data integrity, and documents defects clearly and reproducibly so they can be resolved quickly. Working closely with developers and the wider team, the Testing Analyst builds their understanding of the product and the codebase while contributing to safe, high-quality releases in a complex healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Testing delivery and execution

• Test Execution: Take part in kick-offs and walk-throughs, recording notes, and run test cases against defined acceptance criteria across new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and platform improvements. Utilising AI at each step of the workflow.
• Test Types: Execute a range of testing types, including functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Full Stack Testing: Test across front-end interfaces, back-end services, and integrations.
• Permissions and Data Segregation: Test user permissions, role-based access, and data segregation between practices, treating unauthorised visibility of patient data as the highest-severity defect class.
• Cross-Browser and Device Testing: Test across browsers, devices, and screen sizes, and validate against accessibility standards.
• Market-Specific Behaviour: Validate country-specific behaviour across Halaxy's markets, including currencies, time zones, date formats, tax treatment, and jurisdictional rules.

Test cases, data and automation

• Test Cases: Write and maintain test cases within the established test approach, with coverage traceable back to acceptance criteria.
• Test Data and Environments: Set up and maintain test data and environments, using de-identified data.
• Automation Contribution: Build and maintain automated test scripts within the established automation framework, improving coverage and regression capability. Using AI to optimise your work, where possible.

Defects and data validation

• Defect Reporting: Identify, document, and track defects clearly and reproducibly, working closely with developers to support timely resolution.
• Data Validation: Write queries to validate data integrity and consistency, and review error logs to identify underlying issues.
• Escalation: Raise defects, risks, and blockers early rather than working around them.

Release support

• Release Support: Support DevOps and release activities by validating changes prior to deployment and monitoring post-release quality.
• Predictable Delivery: Follow the testing workflow, completing testing tasks in a predictable way and communicating progress clearly.
• AI-Assisted Testing: Use approved AI tools to work effectively, taking personal responsibility for verifying generated tests and scripts before they are relied on.

Capability and collaboration

• Learning and Growth: Build understanding of the product, its users, and the areas being tested, seeking guidance where needed. Actively explore and apply AI tools to improve testing efficiency, coverage and quality, and share what you learn with the team.
• Knowledge Sharing: Share learnings proactively rather than staying in one area, and guide new starters in areas where they have expertise.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Developers, Product, DevOps, and Service teams to support quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Standards: Follow Halaxy's testing standards consistently.
• Agility and Adaptability: As Halaxy is an agile organisation, responsibilities may evolve over time to meet business needs, and additional duties may be required from time to time.

Skills, knowledge & competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically, 3 or more years' experience in a Testing Analyst, QA Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience with both manual and automated testing, including writing and maintaining automated test scripts.
• Working knowledge of SQL, sufficient to write queries that validate data integrity and consistency.
• Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills, with the ability to work through technical systems and business processes.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to document defects clearly and reproducibly.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple testing activities and priorities concurrently while meeting delivery timelines.
• Initiative, ownership, and accountability for their own work, together with the confidence to ask for support early.
• Good interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document issues, test scenarios, and outcomes.
