Company Overview
Yaqumo is a quantum computing startup founded on research results from the Takahashi Laboratory at Kyoto University and the Ohmori Laboratory at the Institute for Molecular Science. The neutral-atom approach we pursue makes it easier to scale up the number of qubits, but has faced challenges in error correction and computation speed. Yaqumo combines the expertise of both laboratories to address these challenges. In 2025, we raised approximately JPY 700 million and were selected for a large-scale NEDO subsidy program. We are currently developing quantum gates using ytterbium atoms, control systems, and error correction technologies, with the plan to complete a prototype fault-tolerant quantum computer by FY2027. In the long term, we aim to bring neutral-atom quantum computers into practical use and address societal problems that conventional computers cannot solve.
