REPORTS TO
Chief Operating Officer
THE OPPORTUNITY
A well-established, internationally connected bank in Central London is looking for a senior specialist to own its third-party and operational resilience agenda end to end. It sits within a small, close-knit central operations function. That means real ownership, direct access to the COO and executive committee, and a role where your work is visible and makes a difference.
This is a genuinely broad, hands-on position using your experience of 3rd party vendor management. You will set the strategy and standards, and you will also be the person who delivers them. You will challenge the first line, chair the third-party and resilience governance committee, and report to executive committees, the Board and, when needed, the regulator. You will also manage one direct report (3rd Party Management & Resilience Analyst) and develop them further..
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Third Party & Outsourcing
- The third-party management framework, policy and operating model across the full life cycle: due diligence, contracting, onboarding, monitoring, performance, exit and termination.
- The register of third-party and outsourcing arrangements, including materiality assessments and criticality ratings.
- Contract reviews against regulatory requirements: audit and access rights, data location, incident notification, subcontracting controls and termination provisions.
- SLAs/KPIs, vendor risk assessments (including cyber, data protection and financial viability), exit-plan testing and periodic audits of third-party services.
- Board-level reporting on vendor performance and risk, using data to spot trends.
- Projects: New reg March 2027 on 3rd parties register – is completed - completed the register (52 questions) for the list of over 300 vendors; identified which vendors are material regardless of risk. The incumbent will be given access to a portal form Compliance then to submit the data within time and ongoing.
Operational Resilience & Business Continuity
- Maintaining the operational resilience framework: important business services, impact tolerances, mapping, scenario testing and self-assessment.
- Making sure third-party dependencies are fully reflected in service mapping and resilience testing.
- Oversight of BCM, including BIAs, continuity plans, crisis management and recovery testing, and leading the response if a critical supplier fails.
- Bringing business continuity, incident management, ITSM, cyber and third-party failure scenarios together into one coherent resilience approach including disaster recovery.
REGULATORY LANDSCAPE
PRA SS2/21 and SS1/21 • FCA SYSC 8 & SYSC 15A • EBA Outsourcing Guidelines • UK Critical Third Parties regime • DORA (ICT third-party risk, register of information, testing) • PRA SS4/21 operational continuity
ABOUT YOU
- At least 4 years' experience managing third-party, outsourcing or vendor risk within UK-regulated financial services, ideally in a bank.
- Comfortable in 3rd vendor management and reviewing outsourcing contracts and running exit-plan testing for critical outsourced services.
- Practical experience maintaining an operational resilience framework, plus business continuity and recovery testing.
- Able to supervise and develop a team member.
- A confident communicator who writes clear documentation and presents credibly to senior stakeholders.
- Hands-on, pragmatic and adaptable to evolving regulation; line management experience preferred.
- Degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
WHY THIS ROLE
- Breadth: TPRM, outsourcing, operational resilience and BCM in one role, with real influence over framework design.
- Visibility: you report directly to the COO, with regular Board and executive engagement.
- Work–life balance: a c.35-hour working week in a supportive, small-team environment.
- A competitive package of £90,000 plus bonus and benefits, in a permanent role.
