Total Rewards Lead, Japan (Senior Manager)

Overview

Carrier is seeking a strategic and hands-on Total Rewards Lead, Japan to oversee compensation, benefits, mobility, and reward programs across Japan. Reporting directly to the APAC Total Rewards team, this standalone senior-level position will play a critical role in driving market-competitive and data-driven rewards strategies while leading key projects and influencing business decisions. This role offers extensive exposure to regional stakeholders and opportunities to contribute to initiatives across Asia.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of Total Rewards programs in Japan.
• Drive compensation and benefits analyses to ensure internal equity and external market competitiveness.
• Develop recommendations and proposals for compensation structures, incentive programs, and benefits offerings.
• Lead annual reviews and renewals of Sales Incentive Plans and other reward programs.
• Manage relocation-related compensation, allowances, and benefits programs for domestic employee transfers.
• Conduct compensation reviews for factory employees, including minimum wage assessments and hourly workforce pay practices.
• Lead insurance program evaluations, vendor negotiations, and annual renewals.
• Prepare data-driven reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership and regional stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary Total Rewards advisor to HR and business leaders across Japan.
• Participate in and lead regional Total Rewards projects across Asia Pacific.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in relevant areas including Compensation, Benefits, and/or Total Rewards.
• Strong experience in compensation analysis, salary benchmarking, and benefits program management.
• Advanced data analytics skills with the ability to derive insights and make business recommendations.
• Business-level English and Native Fluent Japanese communication skills.


Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience working in a multinational or global organization.
• Experience managing incentive plans, mobility/relocation programs, or benefits programs.
• Experience leading cross-functional or regional HR projects.
• Proficiency in Excel, HR systems, and data visualization/reporting tools.
• Experience managing external vendors, consultants, or benefits providers.
