About Quidax
Quidax is where money meets limitless possibilities. We’re making it super easy for individuals, businesses, and fintechs in Africa to access crypto. Our goal? Providing real value for our customers today while shaping the future of money.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Trading and Liquidity Strategy Lead who understands crypto markets from doing the work. You know how to read an Order Book, find liquidity, manage a position and explain what a trade actually earned after costs.
You'll help make sure customers can trade at competitive prices, with enough liquidity and reliable execution. That matters whether they're using Instant Swap, trading on our Order Book, working with the OTC Desk or building on our APIs.
A big part of your role will be looking at our markets and asking:
"Can someone actually trade at that price?"
"Why is liquidity thinning out?"
"What are we earning after costs, and what risk are we carrying?"
You'll report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). We want someone who spots problems early, makes sound trading decisions and follows through until things work better.
What You’ll Be Owning
Keep Our Markets Healthy
Monitor spreads, Order Book depth, fill rates, time to fill and slippage across our core pairs, especially USDT/NGN.
Investigate stale quotes, one-sided liquidity and unusual price moves. Work out whether the issue is market demand, available funds, a liquidity provider or a system problem.
Compare our pricing with executable prices on relevant markets. Know when a local premium makes sense and when our own quotes need attention.
Find Liquidity & Execute Well
Source and execute trades through approved exchanges and counterparties, choosing the right venue, order type and size for the trade.
Support liquidity and execution for the OTC Desk and our trading products. Know when to split an order, use a limit order or source an OTC quote.
Assess cross-exchange and arbitrage opportunities after trading fees, slippage, funding and transfer costs. Check that both sides can actually execute and settle.
Make Pricing & Market Making Work Better
Review our quotes and spreads against market conditions, inventory and the full cost of execution. Recommend changes that balance competitive pricing with sustainable margins.
Work with market makers and liquidity providers on reliable two-sided quotes, useful depth and consistent availability.
Check whether liquidity partners are improving execution, not just adding volume. Address weak performance and recommend better sources where needed.
Stay on Top of Positions & Risk
Track trading inventory, open orders, unsettled trades and counterparty exposure. Execute approved hedges and rebalancing trades within agreed limits.
Work with Treasury Ops and Finance on funding, settlement, reconciliation, realised and unrealised P&L. Investigate differences rather than carrying them forward unexplained.
Escalate limit breaches, pricing errors and suspected market abuse promptly. Keep clear trade records and follow approval controls, even when the market is moving quickly.
Turn Market Insight into Better Operations
Give the CFO a clear view of market health, execution costs, P&L and emerging risks, with specific recommendations and follow-through.
Work with Product and Engineering on price checks, liquidity alerts and trading tools that help us catch problems earlier.
Document trading decisions, incident responses and handovers. Share what works so good execution does not depend on one person being available.
Within your first 3 months, we'd like you to:
Understand our trading flows, liquidity sources, positions and controls well enough to operate confidently within your mandate.
Establish a baseline for spreads, depth, fill rates, slippage and trading costs across priority pairs.
Identify the biggest gaps in pricing, liquidity or execution and agree an action plan with the CFO.
Deliver at least one measurable improvement in execution quality, net spread or liquidity availability without increasing exposure beyond agreed limits.
Put practical monitoring, escalation and handover routines in place with the relevant teams.
We'll give you the context and support to understand Quidax. We expect you to bring the trading experience and judgement to put that context to work.
Biggest Challenges You’ll Tackle
Here's what will keep you busy and hopefully make the role fun:
Knowing what's really executable: A good-looking price means little if there isn't enough depth, funds are in the wrong place or settlement is uncertain.
Keeping up with local and global markets: USDT/NGN doesn't move only because crypto moves. You'll need to understand local fiat liquidity and demand too.
Balancing price, profit and risk: Tighter spreads can help customers, but not every trade is worth taking. You'll need to know where the economics stop making sense.
Acting quickly without cutting corners: Markets won't wait for perfect information. You'll need to make clear decisions, respect limits and know when to escalate.
Fixing the cause: When a trade fails or liquidity disappears, the job isn't finished when you flag it. You'll help find the cause and prevent it happening again.
What We’re Looking For
We're more interested in the decisions you've made and the results you can explain than a long list of trading terms. You might be a great fit if:
You've executed and managed crypto trades across multiple exchanges, ideally at an exchange, market maker or OTC desk.
You've been accountable for trading positions, execution quality and P&L. You can explain your own decisions, including the ones that didn't work.
You understand Order Book mechanics, Maker and Taker fees, order types, slippage, market impact and inventory risk in practice.
You're familiar with NGN/stablecoin markets and can explain how local liquidity, FX movements and settlement constraints affect pricing.
You're comfortable working with liquidity providers and counterparties, checking quotes and following a trade through to settlement.
You can use spreadsheets and trading data to calculate costs, check P&L and investigate an execution problem.
You stay calm when markets move, communicate clearly and raise problems early. You don't need someone to tell you when something deserves attention.
Experience with exchange APIs, SQL, Python or trading automation is a plus. Good trading judgement is essential.
Have you:
Improved liquidity or execution on a trading pair?
Executed a large trade without giving away the margin through slippage?
Caught a pricing or exposure problem before it became a bigger loss?
Tell us about it. What did you notice? What did you do? What changed? We're interested in the work you personally owned.
Reporting Line
You'll report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and work closely with the Markets Operations team, Treasury Ops, Finance, Product, Engineering and Compliance.
If you're the kind of person who sees a wide spread and immediately wants to understand what's behind it, we'd love to meet you.
