🌍 About the Company

The client is a licensed electronic money institution operating in the European FinTech and payments sector. It provides electronic money, payment account and transfer services integrated with online financial platforms. The company’s systems support secure payment processing, customer verification and the safeguarding of client funds. Its focused structure allows specialists to work closely with decision-makers and contribute directly to the development of financial crime controls.

💼 About the Role

As a Transaction Monitoring Specialist, you will analyse payment activity and investigate alerts generated by the company’s monitoring systems. You will assess customer behaviour, identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions and fraud risks, and escalate material concerns to the Head of AML or MLRO. Your work will help the company detect financial crime while ensuring that legitimate payments are reviewed efficiently.

🔍 Responsibilities

  • Review real-time and retrospective alerts generated by the transaction monitoring system;

  • Analyse customer activity against expected behaviour, business purpose and assigned risk profile;

  • Investigate unusual transaction patterns, counterparties, payment flows and geographic exposure;

  • Request and assess supporting documents, including source of funds and transaction-purpose evidence;

  • Conduct sanctions, PEP and adverse media checks when required during investigations;

  • Document findings, decisions and supporting evidence in a clear and audit-ready format;

  • Escalate suspicious or high-risk cases to the Head of AML or MLRO;

  • Support the preparation of internal suspicious activity reports and regulatory disclosures;

  • Identify recurring typologies, control gaps and opportunities to improve monitoring scenarios;

  • Contribute to monitoring reports, quality reviews and key performance and risk indicators.

🎓 Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in transaction monitoring, AML, fraud prevention or financial crime investigations;

  • Experience analysing payments and investigating unusual or potentially suspicious activity;

  • Understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions and customer due diligence requirements;

  • Ability to interpret customer profiles, transactional data and supporting documentation;

  • Strong analytical judgement and attention to detail;

  • Ability to manage multiple investigations and meet internal review deadlines;

  • Professional written and spoken Lithuanian and English.

Nice to Have
  • Experience within an electronic money institution, payment institution, bank or FinTech company;

  • Knowledge of cross-border payments, crowdfunding or online financial platform business models;

  • Experience reviewing high-risk customers, complex payment chains or source-of-funds evidence;

  • An ICA, CAMS or another relevant AML qualification.

🤝 Key Competencies

  • Curiosity and the ability to look beyond individual transactions;

  • Consistent, evidence-based decision-making;

  • Clear written reasoning and accurate case documentation;

  • Confidence escalating concerns and challenging incomplete explanations;

  • Strong ownership of investigation quality and deadlines.

✨ The Employer Offers

  • A salary depending on experience and competence;

  • A hybrid working model;

  • Direct cooperation with experienced AML professionals and senior decision-makers;

  • Practical exposure to electronic money, payments and European FinTech regulation;

  • The opportunity to improve monitoring rules, controls and investigation processes;

  • Regular professional training and support for developing your AML expertise;

  • A modern working environment in the Vilnius office;

  • Career development opportunities across transaction monitoring, investigations and broader AML compliance.

If you can connect transactional details, customer context and financial crime risks into a clear conclusion, this role will give you meaningful investigative ownership. Submit your application to start a confidential conversation.
