Translator (FR/EN)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Translator to join our client's team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality translation, adaptation, editing, and proofreading services, helping maintain and strengthen brand integrity across all French-language communications.

This is a contract position ending August 31, 2027, operating on a 100% remote model within Canada. Candidates must possess valid Canadian work authorization.

Description

As a Translator, you will play an essential role within the marketing and communications operations, providing linguistic services across marketing collateral, financial documentation, and advertising materials. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors to verify accuracy, uphold strict brand standards, and manage linguistic projects from start to finish. This position offers an hourly rate ranging from $36 to $55 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate translation, adaptation, and editing services in accordance with industry regulations and high-quality internal standards.
• Integrate translation deliverables seamlessly into marketing workflows to ensure all materials are completed within established deadlines.
• Review, validate, and approve French-language materials in collaboration with team leadership.
• Review and proofread content produced by internal colleagues and external translation vendors, ensuring consistency in tone, grammar, and style.
• Resolve terminology, style, and meaning queries while maintaining established brand guidelines.
• Conduct terminology research using government, industry, and specialized sources to maintain and expand internal glossaries and translation memory assets.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging linguistic practices in French publications to ensure documentation remains modern and relevant.
• Negotiate timelines with internal partners and escalate unresolved workflow or terminology issues as needed.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of translation experience, preferably within the financial services sector or a related regulated industry.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Translation from an accredited institution, or equivalent practical experience.
• Language Proficiency: Flawless written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with translation memory and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, particularly GlobalLink.
• Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of financial markets, investment terminology, and regulatory requirements.
• Soft Skills: High level of autonomy, initiative, and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic work setting.
• Assets: Professional affiliation with a recognized body (such as OTTIAQ or ATIO) is considered a strong asset; willingness to contribute to digital video/multimedia content initiatives is also a plus.
