Position Summary

The Transportation Manager for the rhode brand is accountable for leading the transportation function to meet delivery requirements, with a primary focus on air freight shipments that demand reliable, time-sensitive delivery. This role oversees the day-to-day service levels between our manufacturers, co-manufacturers, DC’s and retail partners. Responsible to source carrier selection based on capacity, service levels and cost, and to oversee administration of the brand’s parcel accounts. The Manager is specifically tasked with overseeing shipments while maintaining on-time delivery performance and leveraging the carrier network to reduce freight spend. Reporting to the Associate Director, Transportation, you will lead the brand-focused transportation team that bridges global strategy with local execution. You will partner closely with our 3PL providers, internal commercial and supply chain teams, and the US transportation function to deliver product in a reliable, timely, and cost-efficient manner — with a clear mandate to manage and reduce freight costs relative to current processes — while aligned to e.l.f.'s values.

Responsibilities

Service Level Management

  • Oversee day-to-day transportation service performance for rhode shipments, including on-time delivery, document management, and transit-time reliability for retail and wholesale.
  • Book and track freight shipments to ensure timely, on-schedule delivery to distribution centers and retail partners; proactively monitor flight and carrier status and intervene to prevent delays.
  • Develop and maintain exception reporting to identify any issues affecting shipment quality or on-time delivery.
  • Define, track, and publish transportation KPIs and SLAs (e.g., on-time delivery %, transit time, cost per shipment); lead monthly and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with 3PL and carrier partners to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for transportation service failures; root-cause issues and drive corrective and preventive actions across the team.
  • Ensure transportation execution meets the requirements of key retail partners (e.g., compliance with retailer routing guides, delivery windows, and ASN/labeling standards).
  • Oversee administration of the brand’s parcel accounts, managing carrier portals, account settings, user access, rate cards, and parcel shipping configurations to ensure accurate billing and efficient parcel execution.
  • Communicate industry issues impacting freight costs, freight moves, etc to the planning team.
  • Cost Review & Optimization

  • Manage to the rhode transportation budget and freight spend; monitor and explain variances monthly, identifying trends and driving corrective action. Support development of budget plans for product launches and annual spend.
  • Lead regular cost-to-serve analysis across lanes, modes, and channels and implement opportunities to reduce cost per unit and cost per shipment without compromising service.
  • Lead carrier rate quote analysis and freight procurement options; direct carrier selections that balance performance and cost.
  • Drive mode and lane optimization, consolidation opportunities, and routing alternatives to deliver year-over-year cost savings and improve cost efficiency versus current processes.
  • 3PL Capacity & Growth Strategy
  • Oversee day-to-day 3PL execution for rhode shipments, including booking workflows, capacity requests, and performance follow-up; monitor carrier and 3PL capacity, service levels, and cost performance and flag risks with recommended mitigation actions.
  • Lead coordination with the transportation team on freight procurement events, rate requests, and carrier onboarding; maintain accurate shipment and freight data and reporting tools.
  • Lead RFPs, partner selection, onboarding, and contract governance for new or expanded 3PL and carrier relationships in coordination with the US transportation team.
  • Direct peak-season and surge-readiness planning in partnership with 3PLs, ensuring capacity, labor, and equipment commitments are secured ahead of demand spikes (e.g., holiday, promotional events, new-retailer launches).
  • Identify and document supply chain risks — carrier concentration, single-lane dependency, customs/border exposure — with contingency plan recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Compliance

  • Ensure brand execution aligns with Transportation strategy, systems, and standards (visibility platforms, carrier scorecards).
  • Collaborate with Supply Planning, Demand Planning and Commercial Operations to align transportation capacity with forecasted demand and product launch timelines for rhode.
  • Ensure compliance with US transportation strategy, customs and trade regulations, and partner with customs brokers to maintain efficient and compliant cross-border movement relevant to rhode shipments.
  • Champion e.l.f.'s sustainability commitments in transportation decisions, including modal shift, emissions reduction, and carrier sustainability standards.
  • Requirements

  • Assist in the development and support the multi-brand transportation strategy working with the other operations team professionals, building capability and a culture of continuous improvement and cost consciousness.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on US transportation matters and represent the function in cross-functional initiatives and reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or 3PL management, with proven experience in freight booking, carrier management, and shipment coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience time-sensitive product launches, shipment management, including booking, tracking, and carrier coordination.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen — experience with cost-to-serve analysis, freight rate evaluation, and budget tracking; comfortable building reports and dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of transportation markets, carrier landscapes, customs/trade compliance, and retail routing-guide requirements.
  • Experience leading capacity or network planning in a high-growth, fast-paced environment; proficiency with TMS, Excel/Google Sheets, and reporting tools.
  • People management experience, with the ability to lead, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Experience administering parcel carrier accounts (e.g., managing portals, rate cards, user access, and shipping configurations) is a plus.
  • The base salary range for this role is listed above.
