Join our dedicated Home to School Travel Service and play a vital role in supporting children and young people to access education safely and effectively.
In this rewarding role, you will plan and coordinate transport for children and young people with additional needs attending specialist schools both within Bristol and in neighbouring areas.
Every day, we help more than 1,200 children and young people travel safely to and from education settings across approximately 350 routes. Working alongside a dedicated team of over 150 Guide Escorts, you'll play an important role in ensuring children arrive at school safely, comfortably and ready to learn.
The Home to School Travel Officer is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and support of our Guide Escorts.
We're looking for someone with experience in travel planning, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and carrying out risk assessments. You'll be confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to balance operational demands while maintaining a child-centred approach.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll regularly liaise with parents and carers, schools, transport contractors and guide escorts to resolve issues, provide advice and ensure a high-quality service is delivered.
This role forms part of our live operational service. Team cover is provided between 6:30am and 5:30pm, and Home to School Travel Officers work a range of shifts across these hours. The team is based at City Hall, with flexible hybrid working arrangements that include both office and home working.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
