Traveling Superintendent

We’re currently looking for a Superintendent living in the Kansas City Metro area to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced commercial ground-up Superintendent. Experience in building fast paced, quick turn around projects in the fuel/petroleum, retail, or restaurant industry is highly desired. Nation wide travel is required and projects located near where you reside is not guaranteed. What You’ll Do: Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring work meets safety, schedule, quality, and budget goals Collaborate with Project Managers and client reps to resolve conflicts and align with project specs and codes Oversee subcontractors to ensure scopes are understood and executed properly Maintain accurate daily job reports, purchase orders, job site photos, and time logs Facilitate weekly safety meetings and participate in incident investigations when necessary Conduct site housekeeping, equipment oversight, and tool management Lead project close-out efforts, including punch list completion, red-line drawings, and warranty submissions Mentor field staff including Project Engineers, Foremen, and Carpenters What Success Looks Like: Projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget Job sites are clean, secure, and operating efficiently each day Clear communication is maintained with Project Managers, clients, and subcontractors Safety protocols are consistently enforced and documented Subcontractors meet quality standards, schedules, and contract expectations Accurate reporting and documentation is submitted daily and proactively You’re seen as a trusted leader on-site and a reliable problem-solver You actively contribute to a culture of accountability, integrity, and teamwork What We’re Looking For: Based in or near Kansas City, KS/MO Willing to travel nationwide once local projects are complete (return trips home twice per month or as project allows) 5+ years’ experience in commercial ground-up construction Knowledgeable in Divisions 1–16; petroleum/fuel station or restaurant construction experience highly desired Proficient in blueprint reading and construction methods OSHA 30 certified Capable of physical labor on-site: lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., stand/walk for long periods Benefits & Perks: Performance-based bonuses, awarded bi-annually 100% employer-paid health insurance for employee, dependent coverage is employee paid Dental, vision offered Short-term disability, and life insurance (company-paid) 401(k) with company match Daily per diem that is employee managed Company truck or vehicle allowance Tech allowance + company laptop & LTE service Extras that set us apart: Zernco Bucks for branded swag, tools, or tech Employee referral bonuses Annual performance and milestone awards Fun and thoughtful employee gifts and team-building activities Zernco is more than a construction company—it’s a place where relationships matter, performance is rewarded, and growth is always on the blueprint.
