About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position:

We are seeking an analytical and proactive Treasury Analyst to join our high-performing Treasury team. In this pivotal role, you will be deeply immersed in core treasury operations, supporting daily liquidity management, prudential operations, stakeholder reporting, and financial risk analysis to assist senior leadership in strategic decision-making.

Working within a collaborative, close-knit team, you will enjoy broad exposure across all aspects of treasury, banking partner interactions, and energy market operations, while playing an active role in continuous improvement and the ongoing transformation of our Treasury Management System.

This role offers a flexible hybrid working model (based in the office 3 days per week) with genuine long-term career progression opportunities across the Treasury team and the wider Snowy Hydro business (including Finance, Commercial, Trading, and Risk).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Treasury Operations & Liquidity Management: Oversee day-to-day cash management, monitor daily bank balances and funds availability, coordinate fund transfers, and make recommendations on bank facility drawdowns and short-term investments. Complete bank reconciliations.

  • Stakeholder & Cash Flow Forecasting: Partner closely with Accounts Payable, settlements, and finance teams to track upcoming commitments, understand cash flows, and optimise working capital.

  • Prudential Framework Monitoring: Monitor daily prudential and credential requirements for participation in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and gas market in line with AEMO requirements, providing timely reporting and risk mitigation recommendations.

  • Accounting & Financial Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly journals, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and produce accurate, timely treasury reporting on cash positions, liquidity metrics, and financial risk strategies for senior leaders.

  • Financial Risk Management: Assist the senior treasury team with quantitative analysis to inform decision-making on interest rate hedging, foreign currency exposure, and commodity risk.

  • Systems & Continuous Improvement: Act as an active contributor and change champion during the ongoing transformation and optimisation of the Treasury Management System (Reval), identifying opportunities to enhance automation, reporting, and internal controls.

About the location:

This role is based in Sydney.

About you:

  • Relevant Background: Practical experience in treasury, corporate finance, accounting, or auditing with a strong analytical and quantitative foundation (typically 2–5+ years of relevant experience). Prior exposure to energy or commodities markets is beneficial but not essential.

  • Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Acumen: Strong numerical skills, financial modelling capability, and an inquisitive mindset with an eagerness to learn and dive into complex financial data.

  • Systems Proficiency: Solid familiarity with treasury management systems (e.g., Reval) or core ERP/financial systems, combined with advanced Excel capabilities.

  • Communication & Relationship Building: Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal cross-functional teams and external banking partners.

  • Safety & Values Driven: Committed to a culture of zero harm, mutual respect, continuous learning, and collaborative teamwork.
