A Day in the Life

The Tribal NEPA, Brownfield & Community Revitalization Practice Project Manager supports Onterris’ work with Tribal Nations by fostering meaningful collaboration with Tribal communities, promoting cultural awareness and proficiency within the organization, and building respectful, long-term partnerships. This role also helps deliver integrated services that support communities in achieving their brownfield redevelopment and community revitalization goals.

This is a remote position.

We are seeking candidates with experience supporting NEPA and Fee-to-Trust projects who can contribute to the development and management of environmental projects focused on sustainability and conservation. The ideal candidate will also have experience supporting environmental site assessment and remediation projects, primarily in Alaska, with opportunities to support projects across the United States.

The annual salary range for this role is $85,000-$120,000, commensurate with accomplishments, performance, and credentials.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Provide project management and environmental planning knowledge for tribal fee-to-trust projects and provide support on environmental impact analysis, coordination of biological and cultural assessment, NEPA and/or CEQA research and document production, and coordination for other environmental projects.
  • Support the implementation of comprehensive and cohesive strategies for engaging with our Tribal Nation partners/clients, coordinate relationship-building, and bolster our reputation as a trusted ally. This will include leading and assisting with writing project proposals.
  • Implement transparent and consistent communications with Tribal governments and Indigenous Communities on housing, gaming, recreational, agricultural, brownfields, renewable energy, and other environmental projects.
  • The selected candidate will manage Tribal environmental projects.
  • In addition, the selected candidate will assist in data gathering, write/review sections for CEQA/NEPA documents, assist with preparing permit applications, coordinate with consultants and project team members, and interface with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Planning, executing, and/or overseeing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation, and/or site-specific reuse and/or area-wide planning/design activities.
  • Assisting with project fieldwork throughout Alaska and other states, including site reconnaissance, brownfield inventories, soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water and other media sampling, and remediation at various locations.
  • Collecting field data in an organized and concise manner, consistent with corporate and client standard operating procedures and work plans.
  • Grant application support, including assisting senior grant writers with preparing and submitting grant applications.

Join a movement for better thinking and lasting impact.

“There are not many places where a toxicologist can be boots-on-the-ground at an environmental emergency one day and deep in a human health risk assessment or litigation the next, but this company is one of them, and honestly, that breadth is what makes me love the work. We are a team of scientists with a broad range of talents and experiences who genuinely take the mission to heart, because protecting people and communities from chemical hazards is not abstract here; it is exactly why we show up every day. The culture reflects that shared commitment in the best way: collaborative, rigorous, and truly motivated by the impact we make together.” - Andre Richardson, Consulting
