About us

Supporting Education Group is the UK’s leading education services platform, providing the expertise, technology and resources that help schools, trusts and education organisations meet their biggest workforce challenges. Our Recruitment & Supply practice plays a crucial role in this mission by ensuring schools have timely access to high‑quality educators, from urgent supply cover to long‑term and permanent staff. With the UK’s largest pool of vetted teachers and support staff, rigorous safeguarding standards and responsive, tech‑enabled booking systems, we deliver reliable, flexible staffing solutions that keep classrooms running smoothly. By maintaining continuity for pupils and offering a trusted service for both candidates and schools, we help the wider education workforce thrive.

We are looking for an accomplished Business Development Manager to join our SupplyBank team within our Recruitment & Supply practice.

This is a high-impact opportunity to identify and secure strategic partnerships, open new markets and help shape how we support schools, Multi Academy Trusts and education groups across the UK.

Working on a hybrid basis from a local office, you will collaborate closely with operational colleagues in Teaching Personnel & Protocol Education, alongside our wider sales, partnerships, SupplyBank and marketing teams across the Group. You will bring people together around the right opportunities, turning ambitious ideas and commercial conversations into sustainable, successful partnerships.

This is more than a traditional sales role.

You will take ownership of strategic opportunities across the full business development journey, from identifying prospects and building senior-level relationships through to developing solutions, leading pitches, negotiating agreements and supporting successful mobilisation.
You could be developing a partnership with a Multi Academy Trust, opening a new route to market, supporting a procurement or framework opportunity, or helping a school group improve the way it manages its recruitment and supply staffing.
Whatever the opportunity, you will work consultatively to understand each organisation’s priorities and create solutions that deliver meaningful educational, operational and commercial value.

About the Role: As a Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities with Multi Academy Trusts, school groups, education organisations and other strategic partners.

  • Build credible relationships with senior stakeholders, including CEOs, CFOs, HR Directors, Operations Leaders and Procurement Leads.

  • Develop a strong, high-quality pipeline of strategic opportunities.

  • Lead discovery meetings, presentations, pitches, proposals and commercial negotiations.

  • Support tender, procurement, framework and managed-service opportunities.

  • Create compelling solutions that respond to each partner’s operational and staffing challenges.

  • Work closely with colleagues across operations, sales, partnerships, bids and marketing to bring opportunities to life.

  • Partner with Teaching Personnel teams to ensure new agreements are successfully activated and converted into sustainable school-level growth.

  • Collaborate with SupplyBank and wider Group teams to develop strategic staffing and managed-service solutions.

  • Use market insight, commercial judgement and value-led selling to build strong, profitable partnerships.

  • Maintain momentum across longer and more complex sales cycles.

  • Share insight on market developments, competitor activity and emerging opportunities across the education sector.

  • Continue supporting partnerships after the initial win, ensuring they deliver measurable and lasting value.

About you

You will be an experienced and credible sales, business development or partnerships professional who is comfortable opening doors, influencing senior decision-makers and converting opportunities into results.

You may already have experience in education recruitment, education services, MSP, procurement frameworks, public-sector staffing or Trust partnerships.
However, we are also open to people from other sectors who can demonstrate exceptional consultative sales and business development experience, particularly within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

You will ideally bring:

  • A strong track record in business development, strategic sales, partnerships or account growth.

  • Experience winning significant new business or developing complex commercial relationships.

  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.

  • The ability to understand client challenges and translate them into compelling solutions.

  • Strong presentation, proposal, negotiation and closing skills.

  • Experience managing longer, consultative or procurement-led sales cycles.

  • A structured and proactive approach to pipeline development.

  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of value, pricing and profitability.

  • The ability to build strong relationships with operational teams and mobilise internal support.

  • Resilience, curiosity and the confidence to challenge established thinking.

  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work across different teams, brands and specialisms.

  • A genuine interest in education and the impact that effective recruitment and staffing partnerships can have.

Knowledge of the education recruitment market, Multi Academy Trust structures or school procurement would be valuable, but it is not essential if you can bring highly transferable experience and a strong appetite to learn.

What success will look like
Success will mean creating and converting a healthy pipeline of strategic opportunities, winning valuable new partnerships and ensuring those partnerships are successfully embedded across our operational teams.

You will not simply secure agreements. You will help turn them into active, long-term relationships that deliver increased market reach, sustainable commercial growth and better staffing outcomes for schools.

Why Join Us?

You will be joining a business with scale, ambition and a clear focus on growth across the education sector. This role gives you the chance to work across two well-established education recruitment brands, build relationships with key education decision-makers and make a visible commercial impact.

Our Benefits:
• 28 days holiday and get an extra day for each year you stay with us, up to max 33 days PLUS bank holidays

By joining us, you will become part of a community that is dedicated to transforming lives and sustaining communities, where your voice is heard, your ideas are valued, and your individuality is celebrated. Employment offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and pre-employment checks. These checks will be carried out in line with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements and current sector guidance, and may include verification of qualifications, employment history, professional status, suitability to work with children and/or in educational settings and other role specific checks where appropriate. You will need to already have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
