About the role
AdmitLens is seeking a UI/UX Designer to shape the end-to-end student experience for our product. You will work closely with the founder and a separate frontend engineer to turn product direction into intuitive user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces in Figma. The frontend engineer will implement the approved designs.
The work will initially focus on student onboarding and core product experiences, with continuous iteration as the product evolves. This is a hands-on product design role for someone who can simplify complex information and create clear, approachable experiences for students.
Responsibilities
• Translate product direction into clear user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interface designs.
• Design responsive student-facing experiences in Figma, including onboarding and core product workflows.
• Define interaction behavior and complete interface states, including loading, empty, error, and edge-case states.
• Apply AdmitLens's established visual direction consistently through reusable components and patterns.
• Prepare organized, developer-ready design files and clear handoff specifications.
• Collaborate with the founder and frontend engineer to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately.
• Present and explain design decisions during regular product reviews and iterate constructively based on feedback.
• Apply strong usability, accessibility, visual hierarchy, and responsive design principles.
Qualifications
• At least two years of professional experience in UI/UX design, product design, or a closely related role.
• A portfolio demonstrating polished digital product work and clear product design thinking.
• Strong proficiency in Figma, including Auto Layout, components, variants, prototyping, and developer-ready design files.
• Experience designing end-to-end web or SaaS product flows across desktop and mobile breakpoints.
• Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, usability, accessibility, and modern web interface patterns.
• Ability to work independently, communicate design rationale clearly, and iterate effectively based on feedback.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred qualifications
• Experience designing AI-powered, conversational, educational technology, or student-facing products.
• Experience working with an early-stage SaaS product and collaborating directly with engineers.
• Experience taking a product from early flows through high-fidelity design and developer handoff.
Working arrangement
This is a remote, full-time contract role. The contractor will have flexibility in organizing their schedule while remaining consistently available for collaboration, product reviews, and ongoing iteration.
