About The Company

PA Consulting believes in the power of ingenuity to build a positive human future. We help clients create opportunity from complexity by bringing together strategic thinking, technology, innovation, and practical delivery. Our interdisciplinary teams include strategists, designers, consultants, digital experts, scientists, engineers, and technologists who work together to achieve enduring results.

With more than 4,000 people, PA serves clients across consumer and manufacturing, defence and security, energy and utilities, financial services, government and public services, health and life sciences, and transport. Our teams work across the UK, Ireland, the United States, the Nordics, and the Netherlands.

About The Role

As a UX/UI Designer in PA Consulting’s Digital & Data community, you’ll create practical, accessible digital experiences that help move products from early concepts to production and beyond. You’ll work on web and mobile products, designing interfaces and user flows that meet the needs of users, clients, and delivery teams.

Depending on the engagement, you may work at the heart of a multidisciplinary team or as an individual designer embedded with a client. Projects span different sectors, organisations, and technology environments, giving you the opportunity to adapt your approach while remaining connected to PA’s Design discipline and broader digital community. You’ll contribute to agile discovery and delivery, balancing thoughtful design with project goals, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines.

Qualifications

You are a hands-on UX/UI practitioner with experience designing and shipping digital products. You can balance design best practices with technical constraints, project scope, and timeframes, and explain your decisions clearly to audiences with different backgrounds. You are collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working directly with clients, facilitating discussions, and sharing work early for feedback.

You bring curiosity and a willingness to experiment with AI-enabled design workflows. You use tools thoughtfully to explore options and support analysis, documentation, and ideation, while applying your own judgement. You can turn ambiguous challenges into clear next steps, respond constructively to critique, and focus on delivering useful, feasible outcomes. Experience with Figma or similar design and prototyping tools is valuable, as is familiarity with design systems and accessible interface patterns.

Responsibilities

Design user journeys, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and user interfaces for web and mobile experiences. Develop concepts into production-ready designs and refine them using research, evidence, feedback, and sound design judgement. Adapt design scope and fidelity to suit agile dual-track discovery and delivery cycles.

Partner with product, engineering, and design colleagues to make practical decisions and maintain momentum. Contribute to and apply design systems, ensuring patterns are consistent and accessible. Use tools such as Figma and appropriate generative or AI-enabled platforms to support ideation, audits, documentation, and analysis. Facilitate client workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and design reviews, and present recommendations with clarity. Share your work, invite critique, and contribute to the knowledge and development of the wider design community.

Benefits

PA offers a flexible, inclusive environment where you can develop your expertise, pursue a technical career path, and learn alongside supportive colleagues. Hybrid working typically involves spending at least two days per week in an office or at a client site. You’ll have access to varied projects, peer support, coaching, mentoring, and a budget for technical and non-technical learning and certifications.

Benefits include private healthcare for you and your family, 25 days of annual leave plus a bonus half day on Christmas Eve, the option to buy five additional days, a generous pension scheme, an annual performance-based bonus, and PA share ownership. Tax-efficient benefits, including cycle to work and give-as-you-earn options, are also available, alongside opportunities to support community and charity initiatives.

Equal Opportunity

PA Consulting is committed to advancing equality and creating a workplace where diverse perspectives and human differences are valued. We recruit, retain, reward, and develop people based on their abilities and contributions, without discrimination on the basis of personal identity, background, or experience. Applications from underrepresented groups are welcome. If you need an adjustment or accommodation during the application or interview process, please contact PA Consulting to discuss your requirements.
