About the Client Our client is one of the UK's leading accountancy and business advisory firms, supporting ambitious businesses, entrepreneurs, and private clients with accounting, tax, audit, and advisory services. They are continuing to grow their offshore team to support their cloud accounting operations and deliver high-quality financial services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses. The Role We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable UK Accountant / Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day accounting needs of our clients. The role will primarily focus on bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, with exposure to UK VAT, management accounts, and year-end accounts preparation. What You'll Do Perform day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including recording and reconciling financial transactions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for clients. Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations. Process purchase and sales invoices, expenses, payments, and receipts. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation for accounting records. Assist with the preparation and submission of UK VAT returns, where required. Support the preparation of management accounts, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures. Prepare and provide supporting schedules for year-end accounts, including reconciliations and adjustments. Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting working papers. Identify discrepancies or unusual transactions and raise them for review. Maintain organized and accurate client records in line with accounting and company procedures. Liaise with clients and internal teams to obtain relevant financial information and resolve accounting queries. What We're Looking For Previous experience in UK bookkeeping or accounting. Good understanding of basic UK accounting principles and practices. Experience with bookkeeping, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports. Exposure to UK VAT and VAT return preparation is preferred. Some experience supporting year-end accounts or statutory accounts preparation. Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working independently while collaborating with clients and team members.
