The Role We're looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper based in the Philippines, engaged as an independent contractor, to manage day to day accounting operations for a dedicated portfolio of 10 to 30 clients while serving as the primary point of contact for those clients. This is a client facing role: you will own the relationship with your clients, lead client meetings, and ensure their books are accurate, timely, and well managed. You'll handle full cycle bookkeeping directly and, where a file requires it, coordinate with other team members and specialists (tax, payroll, or a fractional CFO) to make sure every part of the engagement runs smoothly. Success in this role means understanding each client's business, communicating clearly and proactively, and applying strong accounting controls to keep client books clean and reliable. Note: Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications. Testing will be required to verify technical and communication skills. This is a contractor engagement, not an employment relationship. Responsibilities Manage full cycle bookkeeping and accounting for a dedicated portfolio of 10 to 30 clients Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, leading client meetings and managing expectations Perform account reconciliations and month end processes Prepare accurate financial reports and support year end coordination Convert client files between accounting systems as needed Communicate directly with clients and respond to file specific accounting questions Coordinate with tax, payroll, or other specialists when a client's needs go beyond bookkeeping Identify file specific risks or issues early, resolving what you can and escalating when necessary Improve internal and client processes and systems Support automation and system efficiencies Provide regular updates during team check ins Contribute to a collaborative team culture Minimum Qualifications CPA designation (Philippines or equivalent) 5+ years post designation experience in public practice or shared services 2+ years working with a Canadian accounting firm Fluent in written and spoken English, with strong client communication skills Proven expertise in QuickBooks Online Strong experience in account reconciliations, month end entries and reviews, and managing client portfolios Proven ability to manage client relationships and set expectations Tech savvy with advanced computer skills Able to work night shift (aligned with Canadian hours) Self starter with strong attention to detail and multitasking ability Comfortable working under an independent contractor arrangement Nice to Have Experience with Xero, Dext, and Hubdoc System conversion or migration experience Familiarity with other modern cloud accounting tools Prior exposure to Canadian tax compliance environments Experience mentoring or coaching junior team members What We Offer Career growth opportunities, including paths to leadership Comprehensive training with top Canadian tax and accounting professionals A 13th month equivalent bonus, paid annually as part of your contract terms 17 days of PTO allowance, built into your contractor agreement: can be used for mental health days, your birthday, or Philippine holiday observance Observance of 12 Canadian statutory holidays Health insurance top up Transparent KPIs and performance metrics A culture of collaboration and leadership Our Vision Experts who own their craft and their outcomes.
