Show job description
We are recruiting a UK Head of IT Infrastructure to join our IT Senior Leadership Team in Bristol. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering our UK infrastructure strategy, ensuring our technology platforms are secure, reliable and able to support the evolving needs of the business.

Reporting directly to our UK Chief Information Officer, you’ll lead our UK Infrastructure team, oversee the performance and resilience of our IT services and drive continuous improvement across our technology estate. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to the development of our wider Group IT infrastructure strategy.

This is a hybrid role with at least 2 days per week required in the Bristol office. As travel is required to our sites and to our Data Centre locations, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take responsibility for the delivery and ongoing development of our IT infrastructure services across the UK, balancing operational performance with longer-term technology improvements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Infrastructure strategy: Deliver the Group IT Infrastructure strategy across the UK, supporting business priorities and future growth.
  • Team leadership: Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, encouraging collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Service delivery: Oversee the performance, security and resilience of our infrastructure services, ensuring agreed service levels are maintained.
  • Technology management: Oversee our server, storage, network, cloud, backup, end-user computing and telecommunications environments, ensuring effective maintenance and lifecycle management.

You’ll also lead the response to major infrastructure incidents, ensuring timely resolution and identifying opportunities to prevent future issues. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll oversee infrastructure budgets, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and provide technical leadership on complex infrastructure challenges.

What you'll bring to the role

You’ll be an experienced IT infrastructure leader with a strong technical background and a proven ability to manage complex technology environments. You’ll combine strategic thinking with technical expertise, bringing the leadership skills needed to develop teams, improve services and deliver technology transformation.

We’re looking for someone with:
  • Leadership experience: Significant experience managing IT infrastructure operations and leading technical teams within a medium to large organisation.
  • Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including servers, storage, networking, virtualisation and cloud platforms.
  • Microsoft technologies: Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and Exchange, supported by Microsoft certification or equivalent experience.
  • Cloud and networking: Experience managing hybrid infrastructure environments, including AWS, alongside a strong understanding of networking and security.
  • Service management: Knowledge of ITSM principles, disaster recovery, business continuity and infrastructure resilience.
  • Project delivery: Experience delivering infrastructure improvements, technology transformation projects and managing major incidents.
  • Stakeholder management: Experience working with senior stakeholders, external suppliers and technology partners, balancing operational stability with strategic priorities.

Experience working within a regulated industry, such as healthcare, financial services or the public sector, would be advantageous, as would exposure to enterprise architecture and wider technology strategy.
