We are looking for a Unified Communication Engineer to support and maintain enterprise communication and collaboration services based on Microsoft technologies. The role combines 2nd-level technical support, infrastructure administration, troubleshooting and continuous improvement across Exchange, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.
As an Unified Communication Engineer, you will:
- Administer, install, configure and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online, Exchange Hybrid, Skype for Business Server and Microsoft Teams, including Teams Phone.
- Provide 2nd-level technical support, troubleshooting incidents and resolving moderately complex issues across production, testing and development environments.
- Monitor the performance, availability and capacity of communication platforms and implement improvements to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Apply security patches, updates and configuration changes across Exchange and Skype for Business environments.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Microsoft Teams PowerShell and Exchange Online PowerShell, including user provisioning, licence assignment and configuration audits.
- Support the design, integration and implementation of Microsoft communication and collaboration solutions within the wider IT infrastructure.
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, checklists and user instructions.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams, service providers, vendors and other technical stakeholders to coordinate changes, resolve issues and harmonise solutions and processes.
What would make you a fit for the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT, including at least 3 years in a similar engineering role.
- Proficiency in English, confirmed by a recognised language certification.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Hybrid, including administration, optimisation, tuning, capacity planning and patch management.
- Practical experience administering Skype for Business Server and Microsoft Teams, including communication and collaboration features and Teams Phone.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, with experience in Exchange Online and related cloud services.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell, particularly the Microsoft Teams PowerShell module and Exchange Online PowerShell, with experience automating administrative tasks.
- Previous working experience with communication platforms such as Connex/Dencrypt or TimeFlex would be an advantage.
