Your personal sphere of play: As a postdoctoral university assistant, you will be part of the research team led by Professor Meissel. The team of Prof. Meissel currently consists of 1.5 postdoctoral researchers, two predoctoral researchers, student assistants, and administrative staff. We are committed to conducting first-class research and providing highly dedicated teaching. Your future tasks: Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means: You develop an independent research profile in the field of Roman law, as well as in related areas of civil law, the history of private law doctrine, and comparative law. You contribute to research projects and academic studies. You publish internationally and give academic presentations. You submit research proposals and acquire third-party funding. You contribute to evaluation processes and quality assurance. You undertake administrative tasks in research and teaching. This is part of your personality: Completed doctoral/PhD degree in Law An outstanding doctoral dissertation in the field of Roman Law Demonstrated research expertise and initiative, evidenced by international publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals Teaching skills and experience in e-learning, as well as IT skills Excellent language skills in Latin, Ancient Greek and English, as well as in at least one of the commonly used conference languages (Italian, Spanish or French) Excellent command of German A team player with strong social and communication skills Demonstrable academic interest and engagement (relevant seminars and presentations) Desirable qualifications include: A well-developed research profile with a clear focus on Roman Law Experience working with relevant sources of private law International presentation experience at academic conferences and forums in the field of legal history Knowledge of university procedures and structures International experience Experience in supervising students Teaching experience in Roman Law What we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours, remote/hybrid and/or part-time work (upon agreement).
