The portfolio includes multiple programs and projects focused on integrating technology and services while creating a more consistent experience for the employees and teams who rely on them. This resource will be joining the Unix Hosting Services team to help with various ancillary task that will take place with the integration over the next couple of years. Job Description: The HITS Unix/Linux and Container Services Team is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Unix Systems Engineer. The Unix/Linux and Container Services team is responsible for the design, support, and governance of their Unix/Linux server and OpenShift container environments. This role ensures that AIX, Linux, and OpenShift platforms remain secure, reliable, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals while supporting critical clinical, research, educational, and administrative applications. This position is responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting more than 2,000 physical and virtual (VMware) AIX/Linux servers across on-premises and cloud environments. Key responsibilities include supporting IT modernization initiatives such as the OpenShift Container Platform, Ansible Automation Platform, cloud infrastructure, and compute services. This role also contributes to automation, configuration management, and orchestration strategies that improve operational efficiency, scalability, and service reliability. This position reports to the Manager of the Unix/Linux and Container Services team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of ANN ARBOR, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
