WHO YOU ARE: Seeking an IT professional to lead the team responsible for Unix/Linux servers, applications, and application frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to enhance technical skills as technology evolves. Must be able to communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner. WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Unix Lead performs highly advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) computer systems administration work. Work involves overseeing the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of systems. Installs and upgrades computer components and system software to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Plan, assign and supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Lead analysis, planning, design, documentation, and implementation of IT systems, applications, automated processes, and services. Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance activities. -Lead reviews of system and application availability, performance, and capacity. Lead response to system and application outages and performance issues. Lead troubleshooting and diagnoses system outages, errors, and performance issues. Document, recommend, and implement performance enhancements. -Oversee management of applications. Lead response to customer requests for application services. Lead monitoring of application availability. -Serve as team escalation point for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing system and application faults and configuration issues related to customer requests. -Responsible for coordinating daily business hours and after-hours team schedules to ensure adequate coverage to maintain operations in team's area of responsibility. -Communicate job requirements to team members and evaluates their performance. Develop employee skills and builds depth of expertise to position unit for technology changes and staff turnover. Train and cross train new and existing team members. -Monitor and control unit’s functions to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor unit work in process and provide input to departmental dashboards. -Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that govern TWC IT. -Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively to promote and image of IT excellence. -Maintain a reliable, predictable work schedule, and/or be called upon to work outside of normal business hours to sustain operations or complete urgent assignments. -Perform other duties as assigned to maintain IT operations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelor's degree related to Information Systems and four years of recent experience leading teams of 6 or more members with operational responsibility for Unix/Linux servers, applications, and application frameworks. Four years of recent experience designing, building, deploying, and managing Unix/Linux based solutions. -Experience must include some combination of recent experience designing, building, and managing solutions using RedHat Linux, AIX, JBOSS, FileNet, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. -Ability to produce and present clear, concise and professional communications and presentations. -Strong competencies in planning, project management, leadership and organization. -Knowledge of technology trends as it applies to day-to-day operations.
