Position Overview The US Bookkeeper will provide day-to-day bookkeeping and financial support for United States-based businesses. This position will record and categorize financial transactions, maintain general ledger accounts, reconcile bank and credit card statements, process accounts payable and accounts receivable, and assist with monthly financial reporting and closing activities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage financial data accurately and confidentially. This position is ideal for a bookkeeper with experience supporting US clients, accounting firms, bookkeeping services, or small and mid-sized businesses. Key Responsibilities Record and categorize daily financial transactions accurately and promptly. Maintain complete and up-to-date general ledger accounts. Perform bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations. Manage or assist with accounts payable, including bill entry, payment tracking, and vendor record maintenance. Manage or assist with accounts receivable, including invoice preparation, payment application, and collection follow-ups. Prepare customer invoices, vendor bills, receipts, and other bookkeeping documents. Review financial records and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy. Investigate transaction discrepancies and make appropriate corrections. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Prepare basic financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, accounts receivable aging, and accounts payable aging reports. Maintain supporting schedules, digital files, and client documentation in an organized manner. Assist with payroll processing and payroll account reconciliations when assigned. Track expenses, contractor payments, and reimbursement transactions. Help prepare bookkeeping records and workpapers for tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews. Communicate with clients regarding missing documents, transaction details, outstanding balances, and other bookkeeping matters. Follow client-specific accounting procedures, internal controls, and documentation requirements. Protect confidential client and financial information by following applicable data-security standards. Provide timely updates regarding assigned tasks, deadlines, and unresolved bookkeeping items. Perform other bookkeeping and administrative accounting duties based on the needs of the assigned client. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Associate degree or relevant bookkeeping certification may be considered with sufficient experience. Previous experience in bookkeeping, general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a related role. Prior experience supporting U.S. clients or working with a U.S. accounting or bookkeeping firm is strongly preferred. Sound knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting principles. Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Experience with QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Xero, Bill.com , Gusto, Stripe, PayPal, or similar accounting and payment platforms is an advantage. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to manage recurring tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate transaction discrepancies. Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the assigned client and internal team. Willingness and ability to work hours aligned with the assigned U.S. client. Reliable internet connection and a professional remote-work environment. Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Accounting experience, preferably with exposure to US GAAP. Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and accounting standards. Experience with account reconciliations and general ledger management. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal English communication skills.
