Unlock Your Potential!

At TOA Global, we have a deep commitment to empowering individuals to excel in their enterprises, careers, and communities. Our global footprint stretches across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the Philippines, supporting our global clients in the accounting industry.

As a US Intermediate Tax Accountant, you will independently manage routine accounting tasks, prepare core U.S. federal and state tax returns, and drive multi-state compliance for dynamic international clients. Operating remotely during U.S. business hours with minimal supervision, this role balances end-to-end tax preparation with general ledger analysis, trial balance mapping, and client account management. Working closely with senior accountants and managers, you will deliver precise workpapers, conduct tax research, and liaise with authorities like the IRS to ensure seamless client operations.

Your Impact

  • Tax Preparation & Compliance: Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, 1041) accurately using professional tax software (such as Thomson Reuters).

  • General Ledger & Trial Balance Mapping: Perform deep general ledger and trial balance analysis, mapping accounts to tax categories, reconciling prior-year tax returns to client financials, and identifying misclassifications or missing accounts.

  • Sales & Payroll Tax Management: Prepare and finalize multi-state sales tax returns alongside quarterly payroll tax compliance (Form 941), ensuring accurate calculations and timely filings.

  • Schedules & Tax Research: Construct standard supporting workpapers-including depreciation schedules, fixed asset roll-forwards, and book-to-tax adjustments-and conduct targeted tax research to support client strategy.

  • Authority Liaison & Agency Support: Utilize the IRS portal (Tax Transcripts) and liaise with statutory authorities (IRS, SEC) on behalf of clients to pull records and resolve administrative queries.

  • Client & Workpaper Ownership: Handle simple client correspondence professionally, manage small engagements end-to-end, and produce clean, cross-referenced workpapers that align with firm standards.

What You Bring

  • The Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on U.S. public accounting firm experience, with a background in tax compliance and general ledger accounting.

  • Technical Mastery: Working knowledge of core U.S. federal and state tax forms (1040, 1120, 1065, 1041), tax software (Thomson Reuters preferred), and intermediate to advanced MS Excel. Familiarity with computing provision for income tax prepayments is highly valued.

  • Analytical Precision: Strong trial balance mapping skills, prior-return-to-financials reconciliation capabilities, and the ability to calculate book-tax differences.

  • Operational Discipline: Self-driven with the ability to manage routine client accounts independently, meet strict tax deadlines, review work prior to manager submission, and apply feedback effectively.

  • Communication Prowess: Above-average written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to draft clear queries for managers and communicate professionally with clients and statutory agencies.
