Elia Group is a European transmission system operator responsible for ensuring reliable and sustainable electricity supply in Belgium and Germany through Elia Belgium and 50Hertz. The mission supports the development of sustainable and green energy infrastructure.

Role Overview

The Senior UX Researcher will work within the Portals & Platform (P&P) product line and be responsible for bringing the user perspective into the design and evolution of digital platforms including EPIC, traXes, and LinX. The role covers user research, discovery, interaction design, validation, and stakeholder collaboration.

• Customer-facing portal for external users.
• User onboarding and account management.
• Activities and notifications.
• Contractual roles and permissions.
• Information architecture and navigation.

traXes

• Developer and API platform.
• API documentation and service discovery.
• Access and authentication journeys.
• Open Data and private API user experiences.

LinX

• Internal back-office platform.
• User and company administration.
• Permission management.
• Internal administration workflows.
• Usage monitoring initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead UX research activities and maintain research repositories.
• Organize and facilitate workshops, ideation sessions, and co-design activities.
• Conduct user interviews, surveys, user testing, observations, and research studies.
• Gather and analyse user insights, pain points, and feedback.
• Analyse website and platform behaviour using Matomo and heatmaps.
• Create personas and customer journey maps.
• Define interaction models and success metrics.
• Identify and document business processes and use cases.
• Design and improve user journeys.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, process flows, and site maps.
• Present UX concepts and design recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with UI Designers and design system teams.
• Participate in UX Chapter activities, feedback sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Mandatory Skills

UX & Research

• 7+ years of Design Thinking experience in Agile environments.
• 7+ years of qualitative and quantitative UX research experience.
• 3+ years of interaction design and information architecture experience.
• Strong expertise in user-centred design methodologies.

Tools & Technologies

• Figma (wireframes, prototypes, user flows).
• PowerPoint.
• Miro.
• Matomo.
• Heatmap analytics tools.

Education

• Formal UX qualification (Master's degree, certification, or equivalent) is required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with Figma Design Systems.
• Experience using Condens research tool.
• Experience with platform, portal, or customer journey products.
