Summary Yelp’s User Operations department is searching for a detail-oriented, analytically minded person to join our team as a Data Quality Associate. This individual will be expected to have (or quickly develop) an in-depth knowledge of Yelp’s business listing policy and front-end product flows across all platforms. The core of the role will involve conducting quality assessments, identifying trends and patterns in data quality issues, surfacing improvements across data sources, and supporting escalations. The Data Quality Associate works cross-functionally with teams across the User Operations department and the broader business, including coordination with an overseas team, in order to manage day-to-day quality operations. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States. What you'll do: Assess the data quality of incoming data sources in order to determine viability and reliability. Onboard new data sources by running reports to ensure a data match. Train internal stakeholders on business listing standards and best practices. Develop data quality reporting standards and report quantitative and qualitative results in a concise and informative manner. Drive cross-functional projects and initiatives across various internal teams (ie: engineering, product management and business development). Work independently and with other team members while managing stakeholder relationships and engaging in regular data quality discussions. Surface data quality issues and drive solutions with tech team stakeholders. Execute internal quality assessment exercises to identify poor quality data and zero-in on calibration needs. Identify and drive data improvement projects from start to finish. Ensure deadlines are met across all workstreams. Maintain and update process documentation, policy references, and training materials as needed. Handle urgent escalations and lead in the decision-making process to resolve the issue. What it takes to succeed: You hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. You have at least 1-2 years of experience in a quality assurance, operations, moderation, or a similar detail-driven role. You are able to build trackers, pivot tables, and basic formulas in order to organize and analyze data quality in Google Sheets and/or Excel. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information, identify patterns, and derive solutions to complex problems. You ideally have experience working with complex databases, such as: SQL, Splunk Reports, and Tableau. You have the ability to learn internal, “homegrown” tools and Content Management System (CMS) platforms quickly. You are comfortable working across time zones and coordinating with a distributed team. You have a willingness to utilize AI tools (ie: Claude), to accelerate analysis, documentation, and operational workflows. You have strong written communication skills, allowing for clearly formulated issue flagging and write-ups. You have exceptional cross-functional skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical teams, including the ability to grasp complex engineering issues and concisely communicate them to affected parties.
