Utility Distribution Designer

About the role:

Phillips, Ashland, or Amery, WI

The Distribution Design Technician designs and manages electric distribution projects for all customers. You will combine project management, customer interaction, field assessments, and technical design work to support the safe and reliable delivery of electric service. Using tools such as GE Smallworld GIS, the technician develops distribution system designs, prepares construction drawings and supporting documentation, and coordinates with customers, contractors, and team members throughout the project lifecycle. You will enjoy a mix of office and field work, with approximately 30% of time spent visiting residential, commercial, and construction sites and the remainder focused on design and project coordination activities. You will operate in a collaborative team environment with a hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and manage electric distribution projects for all customers.
• Maintain distribution system designs, drawings, and construction documentation using GIS and drafting tools.
• Conduct field assessments and site visits to gather project information.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, engineers, and our teams throughout project execution.
• Prepare bills of materials, project documentation, and project schedules.
• Support construction activities and assist with design-related issues and project completion.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED
• Proficiency with common business software, including Microsoft Office applications.
