Compensation
The compensation target for this role is: $157,300 - $185,000Why this role matters
The Vice President, Brand Management, Operations and Analytics owns the system that turns Purple's brand and marketing strategy into integrated, funded, sequenced and measurable plans. You are the steward of what Purple stands for and the conductor who makes every launch, campaign and touchpoint play from the same score.Brand Management is a young function at Purple. The first team, briefs and planning processes are already being stood up, and you will turn them into a well-run machine. You set the brand foundation and positioning, author the briefs, own the plan of record and the go-to-market process, and run the measurement and operations that tell us what's working. You partner with the CMO, Creative, Media, Product, Insights, Finance and our eCommerce, Retail and Wholesale channel leaders.
This is a strategy and systems role, not a creative one. You hold strategic intent and challenge the work before it reaches the CMO; Creative owns the craft.
We move fast. Priorities shift. We're a publicly traded company that still operates with a startup engine. If you love bringing order, rigor and a sharp point of view to a bold brand, this was written for you.
How you'll shape the future of comfort
What you'll own:
- Brand stewardship: Own the brand foundation, positioning, portfolio architecture and guidelines. Act as the informed challenger who makes sure work is on-brand and on-strategy before it reaches the CMO.
- Integrated marketing planning: Translate company strategy into brand plans and a half-year integrated marketing plan of record, with a master calendar every function can build from. Make plans investable, not just aspirational.
- Briefing: Author and own the integrated marketing briefs. Keep strategic intent intact from brief through channel pitch-backs to launch, without approving the creative itself.
- Go-to-market process: Design and run the stage gates, forums and launch-readiness reviews for campaigns, product launches and store openings, in partnership with Marketing Operations.
- Measurement and optimization: Own the marketing measurement framework and the dashboards that report to marketing and senior leadership. Lead in-season reallocation recommendations, post-season reviews and a test-and-learn agenda.
- Marketing operations and budget: Run workflow, capacity, agency scopes and the martech stack. Track the marketing budget, reconcile monthly with Finance and flag variances early.
- Enterprise alignment: Be marketing's primary planning partner to eCommerce, Retail, Wholesale, Product, Finance and Operations.
- Team and function build: Build and lead the Brand Management, Marketing Operations and Analytics team, including hiring, career paths and succession.
Who you are
- A systems builder: You see how strategy, plans, briefs and measurement connect, and you build the process that makes them repeatable.
- A strategist with a point of view: You read consumers, culture and competitors fluently and turn them into clear positioning.
- Commercially minded: You talk revenue, margin and return on spend as comfortably as brand equity.
- An influencer, not a gatekeeper: You lead through clarity and trust, and you speed work up rather than add steps.
- A builder of people: You hire well, coach hard and grow strategic capability across the team.
What we're looking for
- 12+ years in brand management, brand strategy or marketing planning, including 5+ years leading teams at a senior level.
- A track record of building positioning and architecture for a multi-product, multi-channel brand.
- Experience owning integrated marketing planning, briefing and go-to-market processes across creative, media and channel teams.
- Strong analytical skills: marketing measurement, brand health tracking and consumer research used to shape and defend decisions.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and partnering with Finance on planning and variance.
- Excellent writing and presenting skills, including recommendations to the C-suite.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field.
Even better if…
- MBA or advanced degree in Marketing or Business.
- Experience in consumer products, home goods, DTC or omnichannel retail (ecommerce, owned stores and wholesale).
- Background at a challenger or high-growth consumer brand.
- Hands-on experience standing up a marketing operations or analytics function.
- Familiarity with sleep, health or wellness.
- Experience with a multi-tier product portfolio from entry level to premium.
