VP of Finance

Hybrid (2 Days in Vaughan)

Oakbridge Search Partners has been retained by a leading, multi-entity Canadian services organization to hire a VP of FP&A. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build the finance function for a new initiative with the backing of an established parent organization.

The Opportunity

As VP of Finance, you'll own financial management, reporting, and controls for a complex, multi-workstream initiative. You'll lead budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and audit, design processes and controls from scratch, and report into the broader organization. This role is for a builder who takes ownership, makes decisions independently, and wants to shape something from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Own financial tracking and reporting (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc) for leadership and the ownership group
  • Build and maintain budgets and forecasts across all workstreams; monitor variances and recommend corrective action
  • Lead treasury management and the annual audit process
  • Design and implement financial processes and internal controls
  • Review vendor contracts, invoices, and POs, and support procurement decisions with financial analysis
  • Partner with Project Managers and Leadership to provide financial input into planning and prioritization
  • Identify and mitigate financial risk while ensuring compliance with policies and standards

What You Bring

  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA legacy designations accepted)
  • 8 to 12 years of progressive finance experience, including 3 to 5 years in a senior finance leadership role
  • Direct experience managing an annual audit and preparing financials under ASPE
  • Strong technical accounting skills and Canadian tax knowledge (corporate income tax, GST/HST, payroll compliance)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel modelling
  • Comfort operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, from presenting to ownership to booking a month-end entry
  • Experience managing financials for projects, operations, or business units in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Nice to have: experience in project-based environments (construction, technology, implementation, or consulting), procurement and vendor management, or system implementation projects

Location & Travel

Hybrid, with two days per week in office at one of the organization's Ontario locations, plus travel to other Ontario sites approximately twice per month.

What's Offered

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, plus mental health and wellness resources
  • Three weeks of vacation to start, paid sick and personal days
  • Full company shutdown between Christmas and New Year's
  • A collaborative, supportive culture with a genuine commitment to growth and development
