Vice President of Locum Tenens

Compensation: $150,000–$195,000 base salary plus uncapped performance compensation
Target Total Compensation: $750,000–$915,000+
The Opportunity
PX3 Medical is seeking a Vice President of Locum Tenens to build and scale a disciplined, service-driven and profitable locums business.
We are looking for an experienced staffing leader who can personally generate business, deliver placements and close opportunities while building the team and operational structure needed for sustained growth.
You will initially remain directly involved with strategic accounts, providers and high-priority assignments. Over time, your focus should increasingly shift toward team leadership, division strategy, performance management and profitability.
This is not a traditional corporate VP position with multiple layers of support. It is an opportunity to build the operation, establish the standards and participate directly in the value you create.
What You Will Own
- Lead the strategy, performance and growth of the locum tenens division.
- Personally develop selected clients and fill priority assignments.
- Build the recruiting, account-management and operational teams required to scale.
- Establish production expectations for calls, conversations, submissions, confirmations, starts, revenue and gross profit.
- Create disciplined pricing and margin-management practices.
- Develop scalable workflows for recruitment, credentialing, compliance, scheduling, travel and provider support.
- Improve assignment fill rates, provider retention and client satisfaction.
- Manage performance through clear reporting, forecasting and accountability.
- Identify attractive specialties, markets and client segments.
- Develop strategic accounts and expand relationships across multiple service lines.
- Partner with the CEO on hiring, compensation plans, technology, capital allocation and division strategy.
- Protect service quality and profitability as volume increases.
What We Are Looking For
- Substantial experience in locum tenens or physician staffing.
- Demonstrated success in personal production, business development and team leadership.
- Experience building or materially expanding a staffing team or division.
- Strong understanding of bill rates, pay rates, gross margin and staffing economics.
- Familiarity with provider recruitment, credentialing, compliance and assignment operations.
- Ability to recruit, coach and retain high-performing staffing professionals.
- Strong forecasting, operational and performance-management capabilities.
- Executive-level communication and client-development skills.
- Comfortable operating without corporate bureaucracy or extensive built-in infrastructure.
- Willingness to remain personally involved until the team and systems can reliably carry the operation.
How Success Will Be Measured
Success will be measured through gross profit growth, provider starts, active assignments, new client development, team productivity, assignment retention, forecast accuracy and division profitability.
