The Vice President of Marketing leads Nascentia Health’s marketing, communications, brand management, and fundraising strategy. Reporting to the EVP of Information Security and Technology, this position translates organizational priorities into coordinated initiatives that strengthen community awareness, support service growth, build donor relationships, and protect the organization’s reputation. The Vice President establishes priorities, oversees assigned staff and resources, and is accountable for the quality, effectiveness, and measurable results of these initiatives.
Performance Responsibilities and Standards
Strategic Leadership and Management:
• Develop and lead an annual marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational strategy, service priorities, and community needs, in collaboration with the EVP of Information Security and Technology, COO, CEO, and executive leadership.
• Establish department goals, timelines, and performance measures; report results and recommend adjustments to executive leadership.
• Develop and manage the approved department budget, evaluate spending and return on investment, and oversee agency, consultant, and vendor relationships within delegated authority.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate assigned staff; establish clear responsibilities, work priorities, quality standards, and professional development opportunities.
• Partner with operations, clinical leadership, business development, Human Resources, and other departments to coordinate marketing initiatives, referral outreach, recruitment campaigns, and organizational announcements.
Marketing Brand and Digital Strategy:
• Oversee brand standards, core messaging, creative materials, and consistent positioning across programs, services, and communication channels.
• Establish a cohesive brand strategy for all business lines.
• Lead integrated marketing campaigns that support service awareness, referral relationships, community engagement, and organizational growth.
• Oversee website content, social media, email campaigns, advertising, and other digital channels; use audience research and campaign analytics to improve engagement and effectiveness.
• Partner with Information Security and Technology on digital platforms, vendor selection, access controls, and secure use of marketing systems and data.
• Coordinate with Compliance and appropriate subject matter experts to ensure materials are accurate, accessible, and reviewed for applicable privacy and regulatory requirements; obtain required permissions for stories, images, and testimonials.
Communications and Community Relations:
• Direct external and internal communications, including executive messaging, organizational announcements, public education, and communications supporting change initiatives.
• Build relationships with media and community partners; oversee press materials and responses to inquiries, and serve as a spokesperson when authorized.
• Lead the communications component of crisis and reputation response in coordination with executive leadership, Information Security and Technology, Compliance, and other responsible departments.
• Oversee development of high-quality publications, presentations, event materials, and other collateral tailored to employees, patients, families, donors, and community audiences.
Fundraising and Foundation Support:
• Establish and deliver fundraising goals with the CEO/President, executive leadership, and Foundation leadership; align donor outreach and campaigns with organizational priorities.
• Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of priority foundations, major donors, and prospects; maintain an active prospect pipeline and engage leadership and Foundation Board members in donor relationships.
• Partner with program leaders and the Philanthropy Administrator on funding opportunities, proposals, donor acknowledgments, and accurate recording and reporting of gifts and commitments.
• Evaluate potential funding relationships against the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities, and escalate concerns for approval before commitments are made.
• Support Foundation Board development in partnership with the CEO/President and the Governance and Nominating Committee, including recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Experience Education and Training Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business administration, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. Equivalent relevant education and substantial professional experience may be considered.
• Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related work, including at least five years of leadership experience managing staff, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
• Healthcare or non-profit experience preferred, with demonstrated success in integrated marketing, organizational communications, and community engagement.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising and donor stewardship, with experience working with foundations, major donors, or nonprofit boards.
• Proven ability to develop strategy, execute campaigns, measure results, and communicate recommendations to executive leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and experience managing media relations and sensitive communications.
• Working knowledge of digital marketing, website management, analytics, and marketing technology; ability to collaborate on privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to build effective relationships across departments, lead competing priorities, and represent the organization professionally.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to communicate effectively and use a computer and standard office equipment; work involves frequent sitting and intermittent standing and walking.
• Ability to travel to organizational locations, community meetings, and events, and attend occasional evening or weekend activities as needed.
