Overview

The Vice President, People serves as HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s lead consultative human resources business partner, shaping the division’s people strategy, organization design, and employee relations approach.

Position Overview

  • Role: Lead HR partner for the HarperCollins Christian Publishing division, reporting to the SVP, Deputy CHRO.
  • Focus: Provide consultative counsel to divisional leaders, translating business priorities into people strategy and organization solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted, consultative advisor to divisional leadership on business and people priorities.
  • Organization Design & Strategy: Lead organization design, workforce planning, change and talent strategies that support divisional goals.
  • Employee Relations: Lead complex employee relations, performance, and workplace matters with sound judgment, consistency, and practical solutions.
  • Talent & Succession: Partner with leaders to assess organizational capabilities, strengthen succession pipelines, and advance talent development and retention priorities.
  • Leadership Advisory: Advise senior leaders on team effectiveness, performance, leadership capability, and organizational health.
  • Enterprise Partnership: Collaborate across the People Team and broader organization to align divisional needs with enterprise programs, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive HR leadership, with deep experience in consultative business partnership, employee relations, organization design, scalability, and people strategy.
  • Executive Partnership: Demonstrated ability to influence, advise, and build trust with senior leaders while balancing business priorities, employee needs, and organizational risk.
  • Change Leadership: Proven success leading organization change, workforce planning, and talent initiatives in a complex, evolving environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or SHRM-SCP/SPHR preferred.
  • Culture Alignment: Openness and respect for the organization’s mission, values, and culture.
