About the Role:
We’re seeking a Vice President, Program Management & PMO who will oversee the program management department, leading a team of program managers and specialists towards the timely and successful delivery of product development programs. Key responsibilities will include research planning, commercial planning and the ability to navigate development processes, ensuring cross-functional coherence, maintaining alignment with external communications, having a pulse on all program facets and knowing when to escalate issues, including delivering challenging news or navigating ambiguous situations.The role demands excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, ability to build strong relationships, vision creation, strategic leadership capabilities and a robust executive presence.
The VP, Program Management & PMO will have significant involvement in portfolio management, collaborating with senior executives to align program priorities with Insmed’s overarching strategic and financial plans.
A successful candidate will have a strong background in the biopharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated expertise in managing multifaceted, interdisciplinary programs. The candidate will ideally have experience beyond program leadership, with deep domain knowledge in one or more critical functions — including research development, technical operations, commercial, or portfolio strategy.
This role requires a strategic leader who brings a sophisticated understanding of the key disciplines that drive biopharmaceutical success, and who can leverage that expertise to shape and influence high-stakes decisions across the program management of the company's assets.
What You'll Do:
As VP, Program Management & PMO you will lead, nurture, and mentor the Program Management team across research, development, and commercial sectors, championing Insmed's values of Collaboration, Accountability, Passion, Respect, and Integrity. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and leading the program management operations function, developing ‘one source of truth’ for data and reporting across the portfolio
- Focusing on operational excellence leveraging drug development expertise and interpersonal skills. This leadership role will clearly demonstrate the indispensability of a cohesive and high-performing Program Management function (e.g. PMs operating as a COO of the assigned teams) in achieving Insmed's objectives, with an unwavering focus on the needs of patients.
- Collaborating closely with program heads and function heads to develop integrated resource plans for each program, identifying gaps and recommending resource allocations and creative solutions that align with Insmed's mission to deliver patient-centric solutions efficiently.
- Working in alignment across functions to tie corporate strategy directly to R&D and commercialization efforts and initiatives, adhering to a framework of the CAPRI values. This involves prioritizing programs, allocating resources, and communicating transparently across the organization to keep all stakeholders informed on how their work contributes to the company's shared mission.
- Influencing decision-making within Insmed's global, matrixed organization with a leadership style that embodies the CAPRI values, aligning various corporate and business lines with a unified focus on delivering results for patients, ensuring decisions are made with honesty and ethical consideration.
- Enabling the development of Program-specific goals that are ambitious yet achievable, ensuring continuous communication. Regular updates on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies should promote open discussions, focusing on the company's shared commitment to positively impact patient care.
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning this role will seek to identify opportunities across the Program Management and PMO organization to transform ways of working and reporting through operational excellence, data automation and AI.
- Tracking operational performance to corporate objectives. Maintain accurate timelines, including historical records to track overall performance vs original timelines.
Who You Are:
You will have a minimum of 15 years serving in senior management roles in the biopharmaceutical industry focused on Program management across integrated disciplines, with significant time spent in a direct PM or related role executing strategies in the biopharmaceutical space. You are or you also have:
- Exceptional Leadership and Communication - demonstrated and excelled with exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive results, influence and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated Credibility and Proven Track Record of Success - deep understanding of biopharmaceutical landscape is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of, and an instinct for, program management excellence as well as a record of hands-on leadership of Programs.
- Strong Executive Leadership & Management Experience - demonstrated ability to lead with and without formal authority in a matrixed environment. Experience driving organizational program management and strategic priorities. Team player with proven track record of people development.

Where You’ll Work
This is a hybrid role based out of our Bridgewater, NJ office. You’ll have the option to work remotely most of the time, with in-person collaboration when it matters most.
