Video Editor & Social Media Content Repurposing Specialist
About the Client
Her work focuses on helping women navigate bias, power dynamics, workplace challenges, and high-pressure professional situations through structured, strategic responses.
Her expertise sits at the intersection of workplace dynamics, leadership behavior, power and perception, and real-time decision-making. Through her speaking engagements and professional content, Stephanie aims to share insights that help individuals and organizations respond more effectively to challenging situations.
Stephanie is looking to expand her presence on YouTube while continuing to build on her existing activity on LinkedIn. She also wants to repurpose her speaking content for Facebook and Instagram.
She is exploring professional video editing support for the first time and would like to work with someone who can guide her through the editing process, offer practical recommendations, and turn her recorded content into polished, engaging videos for different platforms.
Project Overview
The immediate requirement is to edit a recorded speaking engagement scheduled for November 12, 2026.
Stephanie expects to provide the raw recording once the event has taken place and the footage is available. The editor will be responsible for reviewing the footage, editing the main presentation into a polished long-form video, and repurposing suitable sections into shorter clips for social media.
The raw recording is expected to be approximately 25–35 minutes long, with a target long-form video of around 30 minutes.
The content will be prepared for:
- YouTube long-form video.
- YouTube Shorts.
- LinkedIn video content.
- Facebook video content.
- Instagram short-form video content.
This is initially a one-time project rather than an ongoing VA engagement. Stephanie would like to assess the quality of the work and determine whether she may need additional editing or content support in the future.
Key Responsibilities
1. Long-Form Video Editing
- Review the raw recording of Stephanie's speaking engagement.
- Identify the strongest sections and ensure the presentation flows naturally.
- Edit the footage into a polished long-form video suitable for YouTube.
- Remove unnecessary pauses, mistakes, awkward transitions, or distracting sections where appropriate.
- Improve pacing and continuity while preserving the speaker's original message, tone, and intended meaning.
- Apply clean transitions and appropriate visual enhancements where they improve the viewing experience.
- Ensure the final video has clear, consistent audio and an appropriate visual presentation.
- Review the final edit for obvious technical issues before delivery.
- Recommend improvements to the video where appropriate, particularly as Stephanie develops her video content strategy.
The editor should preserve the authenticity of the speaking engagement while ensuring the final product is professional and easy to watch.
2. Short-Form Video Editing and Content Repurposing
- Review the long-form recording and identify compelling moments that can stand alone as shorter videos.
- Extract useful insights, key messages, memorable statements, and engaging segments.
- Repurpose selected sections into short-form video content for YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Edit each clip so it communicates a clear message and works as a standalone piece of content.
- Reframe footage into vertical format where appropriate for short-form platforms.
- Add captions or subtitles where suitable to improve accessibility and engagement.
- Ensure clips have appropriate pacing and clear openings and endings.
- Adapt video dimensions and exports to suit the intended platforms.
- Avoid unnecessary repetition across clips and prioritize segments that offer meaningful value to viewers.
The goal is to help Stephanie make greater use of her speaking engagement by creating multiple pieces of content from one recording.
The number of short-form clips has not yet been confirmed. The editor should assess the available footage and propose a realistic number of clips within the agreed project hours.
3. Platform-Specific Video Preparation
Prepare edited videos for the following platforms:
YouTube
- One polished long-form video.
- Short-form clips suitable for YouTube Shorts.
- Appropriate export settings and video formatting.
LinkedIn
- Professional video clips that reflect Stephanie's expertise and professional brand.
- Clear, engaging edits appropriate for a professional audience.
Facebook
- Social-ready video clips that communicate the key message clearly.
- Appropriate formatting for the intended placement.
Instagram
- Short-form, preferably vertical videos suitable for Reels.
- Appropriate captions, framing, and pacing for mobile viewing.
The editor should consider platform requirements when preparing exports. The same clip may be adapted for more than one platform where appropriate.
4. Content Editing Advice and Recommendations
Stephanie is new to professional video editing and would appreciate guidance from someone with practical experience.
The editor should:
- Recommend an appropriate editing approach for the source material.
- Suggest which sections of the presentation would work best as short-form clips.
- Advise on suitable video formats, aspect ratios, captions, and basic visual enhancements.
- Explain recommendations clearly without overwhelming the client with technical terminology.
- Offer practical suggestions for improving the presentation and repurposing future recordings.
- Communicate any limitations in the source footage that may affect the final result.
The successful candidate should be comfortable offering professional advice rather than simply following instructions without considering the quality of the final product.
5. Quality Control and Final Delivery
- Check all edited videos before delivery.
- Ensure audio and video are synchronized and playback is smooth.
- Check captions and subtitles for obvious errors, if included.
- Verify that each video has been exported in the agreed format and dimensions.
- Organize the final files clearly so Stephanie can easily identify the long-form video and individual social clips.
- Deliver the completed files in the agreed format and through the agreed file-sharing method.
- Make agreed revisions within the available project hours and deadline.
The final videos should be ready for Stephanie to review and publish herself.
