Job Description

About AISHA
At AISHA, we are building the primary healthcare infrastructure for Africa. AISHA is a voice-first AI-powered health assistant on WhatsApp that provides trusted, instant medical guidance to Nigerians in five local languages (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Pidgin, and English). We combine AI symptom triage, medication safety checks, and seamless human escalation to ensure safe, accessible care. We don’t just build technology; we upgrade the healthcare experience by keeping a "human-in-the-loop" for critical cases, ensuring no patient is left without expert clinical oversight.

The Role
We have built and tested a robust backend clinician platform designed for seamless virtual care. As a Virtual Medical Doctor at AISHA, you will be the critical human expert at the end of our AI triage pipeline. When a user books an appointment via our WhatsApp assistant or triggers a red-flag symptom requiring escalation, the case is instantly routed to your backend dashboard.

You will lead these consultations directly through live video conferencing, WhatsApp, or secure text messaging. We are looking for an empathetic, tech-savvy physician who combines excellent clinical judgment with the ability to navigate digital health tools efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Virtual Consultations: Conduct high-quality, patient-centered remote consultations via live video, WhatsApp, or text messaging for patients routed through the AISHA ecosystem.
  • Clinical Triage & Escalation: Review AI-generated patient symptom summaries and history prior to the consultation to deliver swift, accurate, and safe medical advice.
  • Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely patient records on our proprietary Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform.
  • Clinical Judgment: Exercise sound medical judgment to determine when a case can be managed virtually and when it requires immediate physical referral to a clinic or hospital.
  • Patient Education: Provide clear, accessible health education, treatment plans, and follow-up guidance tailored to the patient’s context and language needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the medical and engineering teams to provide feedback that helps refine our clinical protocols and AI models.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Must possess a valid, up-to-date annual practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of active clinical practice post-housemanship.
  • Tech-Savvy: Strong familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and standard digital documentation practices.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to break down complex medical jargon into simple, reassuring text or video conversations.
  • Environment: A quiet, professional workspace with a reliable, high-speed internet connection for seamless video conferencing
  • Empathy & Patience: A strong bedside (or "webside") manner, capable of building trust with patients over digital channels.

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: ₦400,000 – ₦500,000 monthly.
  • Flexibility: 100% remote work- deliver care from the comfort of your home.
  • Impact: Be at the forefront of digital health innovation in Nigeria, directly improving healthcare access for thousands of people.
  • Cutting-Edge Tech: Work on a proprietary, tested platform designed to make your workflow as a doctor smoother and more efficient.
