Role Description The VOB and Authorization Executive is responsible for verifying insurance benefits and securing prior authorizations to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for healthcare services. In this full-time remote role, the executive reviews patient coverage details, confirms eligibility, and documents benefit information in line with payer requirements. Typical tasks include communicating with insurance carriers, gathering and submitting necessary documentation, tracking authorization status, and following up on pending or denied authorizations. The role also involves working closely with billing teams and provider offices to resolve coverage issues, maintain detailed records, and support overall revenue cycle efficiency. Consistent, accurate data entry and adherence to compliance and privacy standards are essential on a day-to-day basis.
Qualifications
  • Experience with insurance verification, benefits eligibility checks, and prior authorization processes.
  • Knowledge of medical billing workflows, RCM concepts, and basic medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail, data entry accuracy, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with payers, providers, and internal teams via phone and email.
  • Proficiency with healthcare billing software, practice management systems, and general office tools (e.g., spreadsheets, email).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, prioritize tasks, and meet turnaround times and productivity targets.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements; commitment to compliance and ethical practices.
  • Prior experience in medical billing, authorizations, or RCM operations; exposure to multi-specialty practices is an advantage.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical billing or healthcare administration is preferred.
