The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking an experienced VoIP Network Engineer / Telecommunications Engineer to support the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and sustainment of a government agency’s Non-Secure Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telecommunications network.
The selected candidate will provide end-to-end engineering and operational support for enterprise voice, video, conferencing, and telecommunications services. This position requires hands-on experience with Cisco IP communications, call-processing technologies, network infrastructure, telecommunications security, and Command and Control (C2) communications systems within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, install, configure, operate, maintain, and sustain Non-Secure VoIP networks and supporting telecommunications infrastructure.
- Provide systems engineering, technical oversight, documentation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support for enterprise IP telecommunications services.
- Support specialized Command and Control (C2) communications systems, including conferencing, alert and notification systems, networked voice, video, data, and non-secure switchboard services.
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Cisco IP communications systems, call-processing platforms, gateways, IP telephone instruments, voicemail systems, video applications, and voice/video bridging technologies.
- Provide voicemail capabilities including recorded announcements, message notifications, forwarding, distribution lists, message storage, automated dialing and reply functions, and remote message retrieval.
- Design and install telecommunications cabling, equipment, hardware, and software required to expand, modernize, or enhance existing network services.
- Monitor network status, performance, and alerting systems to maintain real-time network availability, including remote applications and hardware supporting geographically dispersed locations.
- Provide end-to-end telecommunications connectivity, including equipment placement, infrastructure integration, endpoint installation, and connectivity within and external to customer environments.
- Configure and maintain telecommunications logging, monitoring, and blocking security services; review system logs and identify potential security or infrastructure improvements.
- Develop recommendations for telecommunications security, reliability, and infrastructure enhancements and coordinate implementation with designated customer personnel.
- Implement approved configuration changes, security controls, and rule-based policies across telecommunications systems.
- Install, operate, and maintain Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment supporting non-redundant VoIP infrastructure to maintain service continuity during facility power disruptions.
- Apply knowledge of DoD telecommunications policies, procedures, security requirements, and technical standards when installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining Cisco IP systems.
- Provide real-time conference scheduling, bridge management, troubleshooting, and connectivity support for global IP and ISDN teleconferencing environments.
- Troubleshoot voice, video, network, hardware, software, cabling, and telecommunications connectivity issues and coordinate resolution across technical teams as required.
- Maintain accurate system configurations, network diagrams, technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure records.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Demonstrated experience supporting VoIP, IP telecommunications, or enterprise voice communications environments.
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining Cisco IP communications technologies.
- Experience supporting call-processing systems, gateways, IP telephones, voicemail, conferencing, and voice/video communications technologies.
- Knowledge of network monitoring, telecommunications infrastructure, cabling, and system availability practices.
- Experience troubleshooting complex telecommunications, network, hardware, and software issues.
- Knowledge of telecommunications security practices, including logging, monitoring, access controls, and rule-based policies.
- Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, network diagrams, system configurations, and operating procedures.
- Ability to support enterprise and geographically dispersed telecommunications environments.
- Working knowledge of DoD policies, procedures, and standards related to telecommunications and IP-based communications systems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DoD, federal government, or mission-critical telecommunications environments.
- Experience supporting Command and Control (C2) communications systems.
- Experience with global IP and ISDN teleconferencing networks.
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications technologies and enterprise collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge of network resiliency, redundancy, continuity of operations, and UPS-supported telecommunications infrastructure.
- Relevant Cisco, networking, telecommunications, or cybersecurity certifications.
