Are you a VoIP / Telecoms Support Engineer with strong hands-on 3CX experience who enjoys getting to the bottom of complex telephony and call-quality issues?
We're working with an established technology services business looking for a specialist engineer to support its UK-based business customers across hosted and on-premise telephony environments.
This is a hands-on technical position covering everything from day-to-day configuration and customer changes through to investigating SIP, networking and call-quality issues.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
• Supporting hosted and on-premise VoIP telephone systems for business customers.
• Configuring and supporting 3CX environments.
• Managing telephony moves, adds and changes.
• Diagnosing and resolving VoIP and SIP-related faults.
• Investigating call-quality issues, including dropped calls, one-way audio, latency and other voice-related problems.
• Using Wireshark and packet captures to investigate complex telephony and network issues.
• Troubleshooting voice-related networking across QoS, NAT, firewalls and VLANs.
• Supporting and configuring Yeastar environments.
• Working directly with customers to understand technical issues and take ownership through to resolution.
• Escalating more complex issues where required while maintaining clear communication with customers.
What we're looking for
3CX experience is the priority requirement for this position.
You should have hands-on experience configuring, supporting and troubleshooting 3CX, rather than simply having worked in an environment where it was used.
You'll also need:
• Strong SIP knowledge and an understanding of common voice codecs.
• Hands-on Yeastar experience.
• Experience using Wireshark for packet capture and analysis.
• Strong networking fundamentals, particularly QoS, NAT, firewalls and VLANs.
• Experience diagnosing VoIP and call-quality problems.
• Previous experience supporting business customers within a telephony, telecoms or MSP environment.
Additional experience that would be beneficial
Exposure to any of the following would be advantageous:
• 3CX Certification
• Bicom Systems
• Microsoft Teams Telephony
• Direct Routing
• Broader IT infrastructure/support experience
Why consider the opportunity?
You'll be joining a technical environment where VoIP and telecoms are a core part of the service offering, giving you the opportunity to work on more than basic first-line support.
You'll support an established UK customer base, work remotely from South Africa and have the opportunity to deepen your expertise across 3CX, SIP, networking and business telephony.
If you're currently supporting 3CX and VoIP environments and would be interested in a remote opportunity offering exposure to international customers, I'd be keen to hear from you.
