What We Need
We are seeking an Accounting Youth Advisor Volunteer to support our team in learning basic bookkeeping, financial record-keeping, and understanding financial reports. This is a mentorship-focused role that does not require extensive time commitment, but does require patience, clear communication, and a willingness to teach practical accounting skills.
What We Have
We will provide our most recent annual financial report, a set of approximately 10-15 receipts and financial transactions for training practice, access to a team member who can answer questions about the purpose of specific expenses or income sources, basic information about our programs and organizational activities to help contextualize transactions. Please note that HOPE currently uses a simple, low-volume financial management system, so the focus is on creating practical and sustainable bookkeeping processes rather than complex accounting systems.
Why this is important
This project will strengthen HOPE's financial management and governance by creating a simple, sustainable bookkeeping system and improving the team's understanding of financial reporting. Stronger financial processes will help demonstrate accountability and transparency to donors, partners, and stakeholders. In turn, this will better position HOPE to meet funding requirements, apply for grants, and support the organization's long-term growth and impact.
