What We Need
Heart To Heart is a youth-led initiative in Hong Kong dedicated to breaking mental health stigma and fostering emotional well-being among adolescents. To make emotional education accessible, engaging, and non-intimidating, we are revamping the mental health board game. Grounded in our "By the Youth, For the Youth" ethos, this project transforms complex mental health concepts into interactive, relatable experiences for secondary school students, empowering them to navigate academic, familial, and social stressors in a safe, supportive environment.
What We Have
We ensure our volunteer designer feels fully equipped and supported from day one. You will be onboarded with a comprehensive orientation to understand the vision, core themes, and gameplay mechanics of the Heart To Heart board game project. They will work closely with a dedicated, enthusiastic project team for co-creation, collaborative brainstorming, and clear feedback loops.
Why this is important
This board game project directly advances Heart To Heart’s core mission: promoting emotional literacy, reducing mental health stigma, and cultivating an empathetic, supportive youth community. Scalable Mental Health Education: By creating a tangible, self-guided game, we can reach secondary schools, community centers, and youth organizations without requiring constant expert facilitation. De-stigmatizing Mental Well-Being: High-quality, engaging graphic design and intuitive layouts lower the barrier to entry, making emotional health discussions welcoming, positive.

What We Do
When facing mental issues, we understand it could be difficult to pour your heart out to others. In fact, when encountering adversities and mental issues, only 1% teenagers are willing to express themselves. Heart To Heart is an organization that connects people who are aware of mental wellbeing and the opportunities for them to take the actual step to care about others’ mental health. The “colon” in our logo represents the moment you breathe before starting a conversation. It is a key for a person to bubble up enough courage to speak up. We believe that there will always be someone who is willing to listen whenever you need help. We had been serving more than 30,000 beneficiaries and partnering with different organizations in the previous 3 years in our Carnival and flagship human library session- “Naked Heart in the Dark”, to promote the importance of mental health and shatter the stigma against mental illness in the community.
What We Need
- Design intuitive layouts for the main game board, action cards to ensure clear visual hierarchy during play, the game will be bilingual
- Design the quick-start guide, and external box artwork, ensuring assets are properly formatted for print/production
- Collaborate directly with the project team in creative brainstorming sessions to align gameplay mechanics with visual design
