Open Gov Africa - (Office of The Citizens) is a decentralized collaborative platform dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation across African governments. By leveraging open data, we aim to empower citizens, track government activities, and ensure that public officials are accountable for their actions.

• The definition of citizens here is not just limited to office holders. Every citizen is in office via the elected/appointed official(s) who are called to serve the people.
• It is pertinent to note that because of the decentralised and open source nature of this project, it will continue till bad governance in Africa is corrected.
• To ensure continuity, there will be numerous maintainers to continue the good work of holding leaders accountable.

We are seeking a highly motivated & self starting Volunteer Digital Marketer to be part of our starter team.

As a digital marketer at OpenGov Africa, you’ll play a vital role in growing our online presence and helping us communicate our mission in a clear, engaging, and inspiring way.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute social media strategy across our platforms.
• Grow our online community through engaging content and audience outreach.
• Manage content calendars for social media posts, newsletters, and campaigns.
• Track and report on engagement metrics to inform strategy.
• Work with the design/content team to promote reports, events, and initiatives.
• Support email marketing and community outreach campaigns.
  
  

Requirements

• Experience with social media management and/or digital marketing tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Zoho, Mailchimp, Google Analytics).
• A strong understanding of audience growth and engagement strategies. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Time Commitment 8-10 hours per week.
• Commitment Period Minimum 8 months.
• Remote Work Must have reliable internet access.
• Willing to learn or use GitHub.
• Interest in governance, community, or civic tech is a plus (but not required).
