Brief Job Overview

The Volunteer Engagement Program Associate supports USP’s Expert Volunteer Operations efforts by fostering effective relationships and communications with USP Expert Volunteers. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for managing key operational activities that support the engagement of Expert Volunteers and Government Liaisons, in compliance with USP Rules & Procedures to ensure a seamless and positive volunteer experience.

The Volunteer Engagement Program Associate has the following responsibilities:

• Within the approved budget, collaborate with the DSCP Senior Leadership Team to define, plan, and execute events that support delivery of the working plan.
• Support engagement of USP Expert Volunteers, helping to build an engaged and connected global community within a hybrid working environment.
• Serve as the engagement lead for USP Volunteers and Stakeholders, planning activities and supporting critical initiatives and major engagement events with up to 400 attendees through strategic and effective engagement tactics for groups representing diverse fields.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to incorporate their perspectives, knowledge, and expertise into the planning and implementation of engagement activities and events.
• Conceptualize and implement engagement activities that include, but are not limited to, curating content, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue, and planning events.
• Measure the success of volunteer engagement during events by setting objectives, identifying critical metrics, tracking progress, and adjusting as needed.
• Ensure USP meetings and events are organized and implemented to meet stated goals and objectives and align with USP Core Values.
• Serve as the lead and main point of contact for USP staff and external service providers for related activities.
• Own and direct processes across Expert Volunteer Operations (EVO) functions related to expert volunteer and government liaison operations and engagement, including onboarding, training, compliance, participation, and governance-related activities; make day-to-day decisions and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Own the integrity of volunteer-related records, data (e.g. training), and reporting by establishing effective controls, monitoring performance, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with other team members to build and sustain volunteer engagement that balances priorities, adapts to different objectives and engagement preferences, and evolves to meet shifting goals, under the direction of the Volunteer Engagement Lead.
• As part of the Volunteer Engagement Team, act as a backup for other team members to maintain business continuity when required.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree Diploma or 3 years of professional experience working in health, global science environment.
• 3 years of experience defining and executing strategy on large scale events.
• Experience developing and implementing strategies to enhance global volunteer experience, developing the next generation of volunteers.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: USD $86,860.00 – $117,018.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
