PURPOSE: Our Seasonal Social Media Coordinator assists our Global Event Planning Team with social media calendar management, content research, platform monitoring, analysis, and more. Our social media presence is vital in supporting our mission to use the excitement and inspiration of space as a catalyst for educating and developing the next generation of explorers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with maintaining and updating our Monthly Development Calendar.

  • Conduct research into event hosting topics, other organizations, collaborators, and more.

  • Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  • Assist the Global Event Planning Team in tracking social media engagement and study analytics to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.

  • Understand the mission of the company, including the brand, client, donor, strategic plan, and all other aspects of service delivery.

  • Aid in preparing ideas for planned campaigns and provide suggestions to the Global Event Planning Team for improving customer experience on social platforms.

VOLUNTEER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms.

  • Entry-level understanding of marketing strategy and how to use the concepts throughout various forms of outreach.

  • Creating and managing multiple social media accounts, developing content to inform, educate and engage the brand's audience to increase awareness and achieve marketing goals.

  • Ability to learn nonprofit marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.

  • 1-2 years of social media management experience preferred (but not required).

  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Google Suite, Canva, HubSpot, and Buffer.

  • Ability to work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Social media marketing knowledge (preferred).

  • Superior oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organization and time management.

  • Internet research skills (preferred).

  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and HubSpot to track audience engagement and campaign performance (preferred).

  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications, and image/video editing software (preferred).

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is normally performed remotely or in an event space environment.

  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
