embecta is a global medical device company with a 100-year legacy in insulin delivery and diabetes care. Driven by innovation, purpose, and a commitment to improving lives, we are expanding our portfolio of solutions to serve even more patients, healthcare providers, and communities around the world.

Position Summary

The VP, Commercial & G&A IT owns the technology strategy, systems, and delivery organization for embecta's Commercial and General & Administrative functions worldwide — Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Procurement (Indirect and Direct). This role owns the full stack for these functions end to end: the platforms themselves (SAP, Salesforce, Workday, and related systems), the technical teams that run and evolve them, and the roadmap that ties investment to embecta's corporate strategy. The VP is accountable for outcomes — platform reliability, adoption, and measurable business value — not just system uptime.

Strategy & vision alignment: this role owns and evolves the multi-year IT strategy and roadmap for Commercial & G&A, ensuring every investment and delivery priority ladders up to embecta's corporate vision and enterprise architecture direction — not just a rollup of individual functional requests. The VP validates the roadmap against evolving company strategy on a regular cadence with the CIO and functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & technical ownership

  • Own SAP S/4HANA functional strategy and delivery across Finance (FI), Sales & Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), and Global Trade Services (GTS).
  • Own the Salesforce CRM platform (Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud), including the India Salesforce Center of Excellence.
  • Own Legal & Compliance systems (CLM, e-signature, GRC), and Procurement platforms across both indirect and direct source-to-pay processes.
  • Own pricing/quoting and revenue management systems supporting Sales and Marketing.
  • Own Customer Service systems supporting service and support operations.
  • Own Logistics IT systems supporting transportation, warehouse, and order fulfillment operations.
  • Drive modernization, consolidation, and rationalization of the application landscape — including resolving the current overlap between EDI systems in different countries — to reduce redundancy and total cost of ownership.
  • Ensure system integration, data quality, and interoperability across this application portfolio and with adjacent enterprise platforms.

Strategic partnership & governance

  • Serve as the primary IT owner and executive partner to the heads of HR, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Procurement.
  • Translate business needs into technology investment cases and present recommendations to functional and executive leadership.
  • As a member of the IT Leadership Team reporting to the CIO, contribute the Commercial & G&A perspective to enterprise-wide technology strategy and ensure alignment with peer pillars.
  • Own project intake, prioritization, and portfolio governance for functions in scope, ensuring delivery predictability and transparent trade-offs.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture & Design Governance to ensure solutions comply with security, data, and architectural standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for systems in scope, including licensing, renewals, and SLA performance.

AI-enabled innovation & process optimization

  • Identify and champion practical AI applications (intelligent automation, generative AI, predictive analytics) within owned systems to improve efficiency and decision quality.
  • Partner with the Data, Analytics & AI leader and solution vendors to evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-driven capabilities, consistent with enterprise governance standards.
  • Build a continuous process-optimization discipline using AI and automation to reduce cycle times and cost-to-serve.

M&A, change management & global operations

  • Lead IT due diligence, assessment, onboarding, and integration activities for acquired companies, partnering with Commercial, HR, Finance, Legal, and other business stakeholders to seamlessly transition CRM, HRIS, finance, contract management, pricing, and related systems into embecta's enterprise technology landscape.
  • Own end-to-end change management, training, and adoption planning for major system rollouts and upgrades (e.g., Salesforce, SAP) ensuring measurable adoption post go-live.
  • Operate across Americas, EMEA, and India, ensuring consistent service levels and coordinated coverage across time zones.
  • Partner with regional business and IT leaders to adopt global standards while accommodating local regulatory needs (e.g., GDPR, regional labor law systems).

Risk, security & compliance

  • Ensure systems handling HR, legal, financial, and customer data meet embecta's security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (SOX, GDPR, and relevant data privacy regulations).
  • Partner with the CISO/Infrastructure organization on access controls, data protection, and audit readiness for in-scope systems.
  • Maintain working knowledge of FDA requirements relevant to a medical device company (e.g., promotional material and quality-system touchpoints for Sales/Marketing platforms), SOX internal-control requirements (change control, segregation of duties, audit evidence), and data privacy obligations.
  • Although Manufacturing & Quality sits under a separate pillar, partner closely with that function where Sales and Marketing systems intersect with promotional material review and regulatory compliance.

People leadership

  • Lead the SAP functional leadership team, Salesforce Center of Excellence, Commercial Technology Partners, and G&A technology delivery organization, partnering with HR, Legal, Customer Service, and Procurement leaders and product owners to develop technology strategies, execute roadmaps, and drive business outcomes.
  • Own the ongoing build-out of the organization — recruiting, structuring, and scaling the team as the portfolio and target organization evolve — while developing talent through coaching, career pathing, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including direct experience owning enterprise platforms (SAP, Salesforce, Workday, Dayforce, CLM, or comparable systems) in a global, matrixed organization spanning multiple regions (Americas, EMEA, India preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with HR, Legal, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, or Procurement functions as the accountable technology owner, not solely an advisory relationship.
  • Experience leading distributed technical teams, including an offshore/GCC delivery model and vendor-managed resources (e.g., AMS partners).
  • Experience leading system integrations related to M&A activity is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and communicate a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with an organization's overall corporate vision.
  • Practical experience applying AI, automation, or advanced analytics to drive process efficiency within enterprise systems.
  • Proven track record building and scaling teams, developing talent, and running organization design in a growing or evolving function.
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for medical device companies, SOX internal-control requirements for public companies, and data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR); experience in a regulated industry is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus.
