Your Role in Our Mission:

• Lead, coach, and develop the Commercial Credit team, creating clear expectations and supporting performance, career growth, and succession planning.
• Champion strong underwriting standards and consistent credit decisioning across the department.
• Serve as a key independent credit reviewer for complex commercial transactions, including participation purchases and syndication opportunities.
• Evaluate opportunities through multiple lenses, including credit quality, counterparty strength, portfolio fit, concentration risk, risk-adjusted return, and alignment with FAIRWINDS' risk appetite.
• Provide thoughtful recommendations around credit structure, exposure management, participation and syndication opportunities, and portfolio-related risk.
• Oversee Commercial Credit workflows, resource allocation, capacity planning, and process improvements to keep the team operating effectively as business needs evolve.
• Partner closely with the VP - Commercial Credit Officer on credit strategy, policy administration, organizational development, and continuous improvement.
• Help strengthen the overall effectiveness of the Commercial Credit function by balancing sound risk management with the needs of the business.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Significant experience in commercial credit, underwriting, or credit administration, including experience with complex commercial transactions.
• Completion of a formal commercial credit training program or equivalent credit qualification is preferred.
• Risk Management Association Credit Risk Certification (CRC) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial credit analysis, loan structuring, portfolio risk, concentration management, and credit governance.
• Experience evaluating loan participations and/or syndicated credit opportunities.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
• Strong independent judgment and the confidence to appropriately challenge credit assumptions and recommendations.
• The ability to balance credit quality and risk management with broader business objectives.
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong partnerships across Commercial Lending and other areas of the organization.
• A continuous-improvement mindset with experience improving workflows, processes, or team effectiveness.
