VP of Embodied AI
Computer FuturesHead of Embodied AI and Large Models
Location: Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
We are seeking an executive leader to steer the vision, growth, and Technical deployment of our next-generation Embodied AI division. In this role, you will architect and scale an elite engineering group dedicated to converting cutting-edge, multimodal AI frameworks into dependable, production-ready software for robotic physical systems. Rather than focusing on theoretical research or isolated demos, you will bridge the gap between advanced deep learning and real-world industrial deployment. You will oversee everything from remote-operator data collection pipelines to on-hardware edge execution, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in hardware design, control theory, and product management.
Primary Responsibilities
Organizational Growth and Strategic Leadership
- Assemble, mentor, and retain a world-class team of machine learning engineers and The robotics specialists.
- Formulate tactical milestones, manage resource allocation, and ensure the team hits commercial critical critical deadlines.
- Synchronize technical roadmaps with external product, infrastructure, and hardware departments.
- Standardize rigorous engineering protocols for data tracking, experiment replication, and safety-critical rollouts.
- drive the overarching technical strategy for massive, unified neural networks combining vision, language, sensor telemetry, and kinematic actions.
- Make high-level decisions on network topology, fine-tuning methodologies, and optimization trade-offs to Ensure low latency and high reliability.
- The Guarantee, the approved sandboxed integration between neural model outputs and classical deterministic control The loops.
- Architect proprietary data ingestion strategies for human-in-the-loop teleoperation and field-operation logs.
- Supervise the processing pipelines responsible for clean dataset curation, tokenization, and synthetic the data generation.
- Implement active learning frameworks that allow deployed agents to adapt and improve Safe from novel edge cases.
- Direct the compilation and quantization of massive models for real-time instruction on edge computing hardware such as localized GPU modules.
- Build comprehensive benchmarking simulation suites and real-world KPIs to validate behavioral safety, generalization, and task success rates.
- Establish root-cause analysis pipelines to decompose field failures into actionable data collection or architectural adjustments.
Leadership and Background
- Track record of managing top-tier engineering teams specialized in deep learning, multimodal systems, or intelligent robotics.
- Proven history of taking complex AI systems out of laboratory settings and stabilizing them in commercial, high-availability environments.
- Deep experience navigating fast-paced corporate environments requiring an equal mix of management Maturity and deep technical acumen.
- Generative and Large-Scale AI: Mastery of Training and Scale-up Mechanics for Transformers, Vision-Language-Action models, or contrastive multi-modal alignment.
- Physical Robotics: Practical familiarity with modern robot operating middleware such as ROS or ROS2, kinematic solvers, and the physical constraints of hardware deployment.
- Infrastructure and Compute: Hands-on familiarity with distributed cluster training, cluster orchestration, and managing multi-modal feature stores.
- Systems Architecture: Exceptional judgment in balancing raw model intelligence with real-time compute budgets, deterministic safety backstops, and hardware limitations.
- Extreme ownership of end-to-end product success rather than just model performance.
