Position Title: Vice President, Product
Reports to: Chief Product & Technology Officer
Location: United States
POSITION DESCRIPTION
apexanalytix is the world's leading provider of supplier onboarding, risk management and recovery solutions. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Greensboro, NC, apexanalytix is a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Supplier Risk Management Solutions. More than 320 of the world's largest companies use our AI-native platform to protect over $9.5 trillion in annual spend.
apexanalytix is seeking a product executive to serve as VP of Product, reporting to the Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) and sitting on the CPTO's leadership team. The role has two linked mandates. First, lead product discovery across the company, so that what we build is valuable, usable, feasible and viable before engineering commits to it. Second, own how investment requests reach engineering: one transparent process that weighs every ask against outcomes and funds standing teams rather than projects.
We are moving to the product operating model. Product, engineering and design are organized into four persistent trios: Supplier Journey, Buyer Journey, Data & Intelligence, and Platform. Each is funded against outcome goals. The VP of Product leads the product leaders of all four trios, including the Platform product leader in Noida, India, and the product operations function.
The VP of Product works as a peer and partner to the Head of Design, VP Engineering, Head of AI & Data, SVP Engineering & Head of India GCC, and Head of GRC. Outside the CPTO organization, the role works closely with Go-to-Market, Professional Services, Assurance & Recovery services, finance and the executive team. Deep fluency in the product operating model described by Marty Cagan is required. Practical experience running Teresa Torres's continuous discovery habits is highly valued, as is a background in governance, risk and compliance (GRC), especially third-party risk management.
Trusted Advisor
• Advises the CPTO and the executive team on product strategy, market and customer insight, and where to invest next across supplier onboarding, risk, payment controls, recovery, and data and agentic products.
• Is the voice of the customer and of product discovery on the CPTO leadership team, bringing evidence rather than opinion to investment debates.
• Coaches executives and stakeholders on the product operating model: why we fund outcomes instead of features, and how discovery reduces the risk of what we build.
Roles and Requirements
Product discovery
• Discovery leadership. Owns how discovery is done across all four trios. Ensures every team tackles value, usability, feasibility and business viability risk before engineering commits to build.
• Continuous discovery habits. Establishes weekly customer touchpoints by each product trio, with suppliers, procurement, AP, finance and compliance users. Introduces opportunity solution trees, interview snapshots and rapid assumption testing as everyday practice, not special projects.
• Insight engine. Builds a shared source of customer, market, usage and win/loss insight. Draws on implementation and recovery services teams, who see client problems first, as core discovery partners.
• Discovery standards. Sets clear expectations for what evidence a team needs before moving an idea into delivery, and makes that evidence visible in reviews.
Investment coordination
• Single intake for engineering demand. Owns the process by which requests from Go-to-Market, Professional Services, clients, partners, compliance and the executive team reach engineering. Every request is framed as a problem and an outcome, not a solution.
• Portfolio allocation. Leads, with the VP Engineering, SVP Engineering & Head of India GCC and Head of AI & Data, the allocation of capacity across the four trios. Balances new value, client commitments, platform health, security and compliance work, and technical debt, and makes the trade-offs explicit.
• Outcome-based funding. Turns the shift from project funding to standing, outcome-funded teams into a working practice. Defines outcome goals per trio with finance and the CPTO, and reports progress against them.
• Transparent decisions. Runs a regular investment review where requests are prioritized against outcomes and evidence. Makes sure stakeholders understand what was funded, what was not, and why.
Product strategy and leadership
• Product vision and strategy. Sets a compelling product vision and a focused product strategy that connects company objectives to the problems each trio is asked to solve.
• Product organization. Leads the Supplier Journey, Buyer Journey, Data & Intelligence and Platform product leaders, and the product managers beneath them. Hires, coaches and develops product managers who are empowered to own outcomes, not manage backlogs.
• India product presence. Builds Product Management in Noida, starting with the Platform product leader, so India-owned domains have product partners close to the engineers.
• Product operations. Leads product operations: product analytics and instrumentation, research operations, the investment intake process, and the product operating cadence.
• Trio partnership. Works as one team with design and engineering leaders at every level. Product, design and engineering share goals, plan together and review together.
Customer and market
• Market leadership. Keeps apexanalytix ahead in supplier risk management and procure-to-pay controls, including AI-native and agentic capabilities.
• Go-to-market alignment. Partners with Go-to-Market leadership on packaging, pricing input and launches, so customers see one connected platform aligned to the journey structure.
• Compliance as a product requirement. Works with the Head of GRC so that regulatory, security and third-party risk requirements shape product decisions early, both for our own controls and for the compliance outcomes our clients buy from us.
First-Year Priorities
• Publish a product vision and product strategy, approved by the CPTO, that sets the problems each of the four trios is asked to solve.
• Agree first-year outcome goals for each trio with the CPTO, engineering leaders and finance, including a revenue goal for standalone data products.
• Launch a single investment intake and review process for all engineering demand, with every request tied to an outcome and every decision visible to stakeholders.
• Get every product trio running weekly customer touchpoints, with opportunity solution trees and assumption tests visible in quarterly reviews.
• Set a baseline for discovery and delivery health (for example, share of shipped work validated in discovery, time from idea to validated learning, and adoption of what ships), and show measurable improvement against it.
• Name or hire the product leaders for all four trios, including the Platform product leader in Noida, and close gaps in the product manager bench.
• Stand up product operations with reliable product analytics across the platform.
• Work with the Head of Design and engineering leaders so that every team operates as a trio with shared goals, joint planning and joint reviews.
Required Skills
• 15+ years in product management, including 5+ years leading product organizations through product leaders and managers in B2B enterprise SaaS.
• Deep, practical fluency in the product operating model as described by Marty Cagan (Inspired, Empowered, Transformed): empowered product teams, outcomes over output, product strategy, and the distinction between discovery and delivery.
• A proven record of leading a transformation from a project- or feature-driven model to empowered, outcome-funded product teams, including winning over executives and stakeholders outside product.
• Hands-on experience leading product discovery at scale, including addressing value, usability, feasibility and viability risk before committing engineering investment.
• Experience owning portfolio-level investment decisions across multiple teams: setting capacity allocation, saying no with evidence, and making trade-offs transparent to executives and Go-to-Market leaders.
• A track record of hiring, coaching and developing strong product managers and product leaders.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience using product analytics, experimentation and qualitative research to make decisions.
• Experience working in close partnership with design and engineering as a trio, and with distributed teams across US and India time zones.
• Experience with AI-native or data products, and sound judgment about where AI and agents create real customer value.
• Strong executive presence, able to represent product strategy credibly to the CPTO, the executive team, clients and, as needed, the Board.
Preferred Skills
• Practical experience running Teresa Torres's continuous discovery habits (Continuous Discovery Habits): weekly customer interviews by the product trio, opportunity solution trees, and rapid assumption testing, ideally introduced across several teams.
• Background in governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software or practice, especially third-party risk management (TPRM), supplier risk or vendor due diligence.
• Domain experience in procure-to-pay, accounts payable, supplier management, payment fraud prevention or fintech.
• Experience building product management in an India-based Global Capability Center.
• Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth SaaS company, connecting product investment to revenue, retention and EBITDA.
• Experience building and selling data products or APIs as standalone revenue lines.
Education Levels/Credentials (Degree types and Emphasis)
• An undergraduate degree in business, computer science, engineering or a related field is required. A graduate degree or an MBA is a plus but not required.
Physical/Remote/Travel Work Environment
• United States, with remote or hybrid arrangements considered. Regular overlap with India business hours for work with the Noida team.
• Travel required: regular, including client visits for discovery, and periodic travel to apexanalytix HQ in Greensboro, NC, and the Noida GCC.
Scope Boundaries
This role owns product discovery, product vision and strategy, the product organization across all four trios, product operations, and the process by which investment requests reach engineering. Engineering delivery, quality and technical standards sit with the VP Engineering, the SVP Engineering & Head of India GCC and the Chief Architect. Design leadership, the design system and research practice sit with the Head of Design; the VP of Product partners closely on discovery. The Data & Intelligence trio is led by the Head of AI & Data, with its product leader reporting to this role. Client commercial relationships, pricing and packaging decisions sit with Go-to-Market leadership, with input from this role.
