TITLE: V.P. of Sales & Marketing
DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing

REPORTS TO: C.E.O and President
SUPERVISES: Dir of M & B Dev & Cust Serv

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and manages the sales, marketing, and customer service activities of the organization. Develops sales and marketing plans, strategies, objectives, policies, and work procedures. Develops and maintains relationships with clients, customers, other organizations, and agents. Directs field sales, inside sales, and customer service, and leads the transformation of customer service into a customer engagement function.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Establishes sales goals and directs all sales functions. Leads sales training, sales schools, seminars, and other sales programs for Wheaton World Wide Moving. Selects, trains, and supervises sales employees. Sets goals for Regional Sales Directors and meets with them regularly.
• Develops and leads new methods that improve closing ratios for the company and its agents. Responsible for timely preparation of sales agreements, contracts, and related documents after consultation with legal, tariff, and financial personnel.
• Customer Service reports to the V.P. of Sales. Directs the customer service function, including staffing, service standards, response times, and the quality of service provided to shippers, agents, and drivers.
• Leads the plan to transform Customer Service into a Customer Engagement function. The transformed team accepts inbound calls and calls web leads from prospective customers; schedules in-home or virtual surveys for agents by market or city; and, when the shipper is ready at the moment of contact, completes the virtual survey immediately and works to close the order directly, so a later scheduled survey is not required.
• Maintains effective relations with Wheaton customers, agents, and drivers, and cooperates with other officers, managers, supervisors, employees, and agents. Communicates with Executive Management and the Executive Committee in a timely and productive manner. Responsible for the content and accuracy of reports from staff, and for timely response to written and electronic correspondence.
• Complies with company policies and the federal and state regulations that govern this function. Maintains a working knowledge of current industry practices, procedures, tariffs, rules, and regulations.
• Directs national and regional advertising, serves as liaison and advisor to the Agents Advertising Committee, manages the National Yellow Pages program, and guides agency advertising. Assists with the corporate advertising budget, the Agents Advertising Fund, departmental expenses, and collateral inventory and pricing.
• Coordinates corporate communications, publications, and newsletters; maintains the website and electronic-marketplace programs; and coordinates public relations, the PRO program, special events, community activities, and public speaking. Manages sales literature (creative concept, design, copy, and print) and the corporate identity program, including use of the Wheaton trade name and credentials.
• Coordinates meeting planning, including promotion, registration, site management, audio-visual presentation, and exhibitor participation. Helps maintain relationships with outside organizations, including Steinway & Sons, Good Housekeeping, and others. Helps conduct market research and negotiate vendor contracts.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
• Works regular business hours and additional hours as reasonably required to fulfill job responsibilities, consistent with applicable laws and company policies.
• Serves on the Executive Committee and assists with company strategic issues. Submits written reports in the format required by the Executive Committee and recommends improvements that increase efficiency and profitability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 10 years of proven successful sales experience with national accounts and/or business development.
• 5 years of experience successfully leading a sales department, including developing sales training, new-business development, and growth of existing business.
• Knowledge of commission structures, pay-for-performance programs, and sales metrics. Experience directing a customer-facing service or inside-sales team is preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Marketing, or equivalent work experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Salaried management position with responsibility and authority. Moderate travel, approximately 40%, is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to sit at a desk and in front of a computer for long periods. This is a hybrid position that requires physical presence in the office. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Vision must be sufficient to read a computer screen, paper forms, and correspondence. Must be able to remain focused, composed, and solutions-oriented when managing high-pressure situations, critical business needs, and competing demands.
