MDVIP: Transforming Primary Care, One Patient at a Time
MDVIP is a national leader in personalized healthcare, empowering over 425,000 members to achieve their health and wellness goals through a network of more than 1,400 concierge primary care physicians. Our program emphasizes preventive medicine, offering comprehensive screenings, advanced diagnostics, and individualized wellness plans. Recognized as a Great Place to Work® since 2018, MDVIP is committed to excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction.
Position Summary
The VP, Partnerships is accountable for identifying, negotiating and signing the companies that supply data and capabilities for MDVIP’s health data platform: laboratories, diagnostic and imaging companies, EMR and data-connectivity providers, wearable and device companies, and consumer health platforms.
You own the commercial side of every relationship: who we sign, on what terms, with what data rights, and whether the relationship delivers. You work in lockstep with Technology, and later a dedicated technical counterpart, who judge what can be integrated and bring each signed partner live. A partner counts as won only when its data is flowing and useful to MDVIP-affiliated physicians and members.
This is a very hands-on role, where you’ll do the outreach, run the diligence, draft the term sheets and sit across the table yourself. The right person is a dealmaker who is genuinely curious about preventive health, wellness and the technology around them, and who is energized by the absence of a playbook.
Key Responsibilities
- Advance Annual Wellness Program (AWP) clinical strategy and outcomes. Develop partnerships and technology that strengthen the AWP by prioritizing clinically relevant, actionable intelligence; enhancing the physician and member experience; and expanding capabilities that support measurable clinical outcomes, member retention, and growth.
- Decide where to start. Map the landscape of data sources (laboratories, diagnostics and imaging, EMR and data connectivity, wearables and devices, consumer health platforms). Work with Product, Clinical and Technology to decide which are essential, which are nice to have, and which are not worth chasing.
- Open the doors. Source and qualify candidates, make the first calls, and run commercial diligence yourself. You are the face of MDVIP to these companies.
- Make the deal. Draft and negotiate term sheets and agreements covering data rights, data access, delivery service levels, pricing, any per-member or referral economics, and exit terms, alongside Legal and Finance.
- Start small, learn fast. Structure each relationship as a pilot: one partner, a defined scope, written success criteria, and a clear decision point before anything scales.
- Check feasibility before you sign. Work with Technology colleagues (and, as the program grows, a dedicated technical partnership lead) so that no term sheet goes out without a documented technical feasibility rating.
- Build compliance in from the start. Partner with Legal and Compliance on data-sharing structures, privacy requirements and any fee arrangement. No pilot begins before Legal review.
- Run partners like a business. Model the economics with Finance, hold regular business reviews against a shared scorecard, and make the call to expand, fix or exit.
- Hand off cleanly. Give each signed partner a complete package (terms, data entitlements, success criteria, named contacts) so integration can start fast.
- Grow the function. Keep an eye on the market. As the program proves itself, help shape the team that follows you.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear, prioritized target map that Product, Clinical and Technology all believe in.
- Your first partner agreement(s) signed on terms that protect data rights, with data actually flowing and being used.
- A repeatable way to evaluate, negotiate and launch each new partner, so the next one is faster than the last.
- Trusted working relationships across Product, Technology, Legal, Compliance and Finance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A track record of building successful partnerships in healthcare, health technology, diagnostics, wearables or digital health.
- A track record of personally sourcing, negotiating and closing data-sharing, API or platform agreements, ideally including large, consumer-scale counterparties.
- Working knowledge of health-data privacy and data-rights structures, and the ability to work effectively with Legal, Compliance and Finance.
- Comfort building your own materials: term sheets, partner scorecards, financial models, executive updates.
- Strong judgment, including the discipline to say no on focus, cost and partner quality.
- Executive presence with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or MBA.
- Direct experience partnering with laboratory, diagnostic, imaging, wearable or EMR and data-connectivity companies.
- Experience at an early-stage company or launching a new partnership function from scratch.
- Real enthusiasm for health, fitness and wellness.
